Might be a little heavy at 9 lbs without the scope, but my new Super Varmint in 6.5 creed is rapidly growing on me. First 200 rounds have been a “get acquainted “ period since before all I had shot on the range at 500 yards was my Savage 12 LRPV in .223 ( been a great rifle, by the way). Finding...
Not saying that there’s no such thing as a “bad “ rifle and/or barrel, but I find myself wondering when I see something akin to “ This rifle just won’t shoot “ , how adept at marksmanship is the person making the observation? More than once after a sub par day at the range I’ve headed off to...
Not that it ever could come back since Rod Serling ( A genuine genius IMO ) has passed, but the original Twilight Zone at times scared the bejesus out of me as a kid.
As far from the storm track as it is, the Savannah area has had widespread power outages, trees and debris everywhere. Got power back in our subdivision yesterday. This storm really was far worse than expected.
Camille was in 1969 and scoured the Mississippi gulf coast almost completely clean. Did not come ashore in the Mobile area but we felt the effects nonetheless. She was a relatively small and compact storm. Winds clocked at 200 mph in the Gulfport area at landfall.
Yep. Muzzle brakes and shooting ranges sometimes don’t mix well at all either . Have had range days cut short when either I couldn’t move or the guy shooting with the brake either couldn’t or wouldn’t. For me, it’s not so much the noise ( I use double ear protection) as it is the concussion.
I own and shoot both a Savage 110 and a Tikka T3X Super Varmint. Both guns are very accurate, more so than the shooter! I have been more than pleased with the action in both rifles. My expectation was that the Tikka action would be far superior to the 110, but at least with my guns, that has not...
Would a Tikka T3X Lite in 300 WM kick like a pissed off mule?
Really like my T3X Super Varmint but can’t objectively compare it to the other two because I’ve personally never seen/handled/shot the other two choices. IMHO that’s the only way to get truly worthwhile information. Otherwise it’s...
“ why do brown bear guides carry .416 RMs and not .223s? “ . Probably because they don’t want to end up like the Glass character in the Revenant due to a pissed off, wounded bear.
I love my . 223 s but it wouldn’t be the first thing I’d reach for if I thought I might encounter a brown bear/ grizzly, much less hunting one on purpose. Don’t think it’ll ever happen for me since I have absolutely no desire to shoot an animal like that. Just me.
Well, they must be doing SOMETHING right at Savage. It’s interesting to me the number of posts I’ve read in which, after extensive bitching and moaning, a high percentage say something to the effect of, “ But the thing shoots so damn good! “. I have three Savage rifles, a110 Storm in .223...
Either I don’t know the true meaning of the term “bolt slop” (entirely possible ) or neither my Tikka Super Varmint or Savage Model 12 LRPV has much if any. Then again neither are lower cost “budget” rifles like the Savage Axis line. And the Tikka Super Varmint certainly doesn’t have a “...
