Since I have no experience with other Tikka stocks, I’m curious as well as to the stock comparisons. My Super Varmint has the roughtech stock and it seems substantial to me, but I have no frame of reference. Sure do like the gun and the way it shoots, though.
My Mom ( God rest her soul and perhaps the most worldly wise person I’ve ever known ) said, “ It’s true that money isn’t everything. But try living without any. “
Definitely a Tikka convert, even though I certainly still shoot and enjoy my Savage rifles, particularly my Model 12 LRPV range gun in .223. My relatively new (only 240 rounds ) Super Varmint in 6.5 Creedmoor has made me a believer! Since it’s mainly a range rifle as well, the only thing I’ve...
IMHO, this. Tough decision, but the fact that you know how to manage your finances ( as evidenced by your comment regarding living beneath your means ) would make me optimistic. By all means, get a good financial advisor. Well worth it in these types of situations !
Growing up in south Alabama, my dad and I hunted quail on my grandad’s farm. Mom would fix them, absolutely delicious!
On the poll, I voted pheasant. My first CO when I was in the service was from South Dakota and would bring back pheasants. His wife would prepare them in a casserole. That was...
That’s really a sad (but accurate I’m afraid in these days and times ) commentary that one would feel the necessity to have to set up a “ decoy tent/camp “ in order to do something that you’re supposed to be able to relax and enjoy. I would think that would detract from the experience, on edge...
I have to say, I envy folks who can go off into deep woods and/or back country without seemingly a care or worry in the world. Especially alone I don’t think I’d ever be able to completely relax and sleep soundly. Maybe I should have developed more of Tom Berenger’s character, Sgt. Barnes...
Like so many things in life, it applies to ammunition. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. My seven decades on the planet have taught me the truthfulness of this.
It might not have ended differently, but I wonder if the guy was armed? Plenty of folks just merrily go into wilderness without any protection whatsoever. Camping, hiking, bow hunting, just never know when or where the unexpected might occur.
I guess people do, but I can’t imagine going into back country, particularly alone, without some way to communicate. Just too many unplanned and unexpected things can happen.
Just curious. For those of you who venture into back country, usually alone ( more guts than I’ve ever had! ), do you carry some sort of pyrotechnic signaling device?
I have to admit that it would have been soooooo…. Tempting to aim well to the side ( but not so far as to where he couldn’t hear the impact ) and…..well, you know the rest.
I’ve seen “ character “ defined as what one does when no one is looking. Also, the above posts illustrate just how poorly...
