Easy 9/10 condition. Used for about a half dozen times shoveling the driveway in the dead of MN winter. Size large. Original stuff sack included. No rips, tears, or odors. $300 shipped, F&F preferred
I did not, but that would have been clutch! The Buddy created a decent amount of melt water for about a 3 foot radius in front so maybe throwing mats down first and then the Buddy would've prevented this. Did use some Western Mountaineering down booties though in the bag and cots, which was...
I did the exact same last weekend, cots in an insulated Eskimo with a Buddy heater during waking hours. Used a Kodiak 0 WM bag with a Exped CC foam pad (R = 2.2). Was a little cold on the lower body but think that was because I stuffed my duffle under the part of the cot below my upper body...
So, I'd like to add a final winter bag to the lineup to use when solo winter camping in expected cold temps, or for my girlfriend to use when we're camping together in temps around or slightly lower than 0. Also, I'll preface this by saying that I'm a big Western Mountaineering fan, own three of...
For those that have used it in the wild, how does the courthouse hold up to precip and snowfall? Could this be used mid-to-late season with confidence?
What Jeff said. Those are serious temps. You need a serious bag. What price can you put on comfort, in the best case scenario, and safety/survival in the worst case scenario. Haven't tried FF but have 3 WM bags and feel they're the best bags made in the world. Can actually trust their temp...
+1 for the WM Kodiak. I'm 6'3 170 (could stand to eat a few more meals i know) and it's got a ton of room. Shoulder room is awesome and can actually trust their temp comfort ratings.
How do you layer the Ambient with your other layers? Am a bit worried how the Ambient face fabric will hold up to piling and wear if constantly exposed to pack straps and Bino harness straps - felt the Heavyweight Hoody handled these generally well. My Celsius Midi got eaten up by my Incinerator...
I concur. Their insulation (Uncompahgre pants, in my case) are one wrong briar or thorn away from developing "heat vents" and I've had buttons pop off just when undoing them.
Haven't used the squeeze, but have the Platypus grav filter and it's awesome. Doesn't take that long and frees you up to do other stuff as others have mentioned. Just be sure to not let it freeze - keep it with you in the sleeping bag in subfreezing temps!
Haven't tried Kifaru, but have heard the Sitka Down WS hoody is comparable to the Chamberlain FWIW. It's a pretty beastly jacket and very warm; have worn it comfortably in below zero temps. Have seen these for as much as half off recently, assuming because Sitka must have a replacement coming...
Same here: Love the Petzl Actic and Actic Core. Simple intuitive toggle button, red light for duck and ungulate hunting. Sometimes wish the battery runtime was a little longer, especially on the full 450 lumen (think it's max 2 hours with the Core battery). Al's had them for half off a few...
