I'm pretty sure all the TC muzzleloaders share the same bolt pattern. I doubt there is a wrong answer here. Given a choice I always go Warne tactical base, however it appears they don't make one. The only one they offer only has two slot options, which I hate when companies do that. Instead I...
Interesting. I'm not against neck shots at all, but I would go for where the 4 is, and obviously only with a strong round like a 308 or shotgun slug. If you shoot for the neck right where the leg meets, you are probably going to make a mess of the leg meat anyway. Why not just shoot the lungs at...
There were for sure some odd inline designs. One of my favorites is the TC scout, it's odd, but it works pretty good. I have a 54 cal TC scout pistol, couldn't imagine hunting without it. I'm guessing your H&Rs have the push in plugs, which you will never see today in our lawsuit heavy world...
That's not even good at all. Even my rechargeable batteries go for thousands of pictures. I've never had lithium die in one year, so they go at least 10,000 pictures. Is that at least a cell camera?
It's not bad around me, any state varies by area. Growing up in central MN we never asked much. It was more about knowing people than it was asking. There are parts of MN that can be great to knock on doors. Now in NE SD almost everyone is nice, but success can vary. Lots of the landowners...
I see you mentioned your hammock is sewn for an under quilt attachment. I think you may be mistaking them for tie out points. Most people use those to tie out the side of the hammock to keep the fabric/bug net out of their face. I'm guessing this is more of a short person problem, as I take up...
Nothings really changed, that's just the way CVA is, and always has been. Even WAY back in the day they were this way. One of the few sought after CVA's is their Mountain rifle. I had one briefly, and it too was quite poor as far as fit and finish. What makes them special, besides not looking...
Something like a Thermarest basic pad does work, I used them. You read about people having condensation issues with them, but that's not a problem I had. The biggest issue I had was you are trying to make a semi-flexible pad fit under you in a fully-flexible fabric cot. If everything was aligned...
I wrote out my setup in a different thread, so I wont go into that detail here.
There seems to be a few misconceptions people have about hammocks, specifically about the camping style ones we use. The first one is about hanging them, or lack there of. I live in the great plains in South Dakota...
In my case I doubt wolves are a big factor. They are around, but we are on the fringe of normal wolf range. I've never even heard one howl at night in the years I've been hunting this area. In my case it's no-quota, meaning there are unlimited tags and no drawing. This area isn't as bad as they...
Your lucky to have seen anything. This has been by far the worst year of baiting I've had. 3 bait sites in no-quota MN in an area I've always had success. Not a single bear has found a bait yet. We are going for a hail mary of scents this weekend, but it's quickly getting to be really bad news...
Those are good points about the face and hands, but I think it's generally a little over blown. A hat with a brim does a pretty good job alone. I don't like wearing gloves unless I have to, but most people do. I can't stand face masks at all. Years ago I played with face paint and it's not worth...
In a house I've pulled enough wipes from a drain I'd never use them. I'm guessing they aren't great for a sewer system either. Even toilet paper doesn't break down that fast.
In the field I wouldn't leave wipes in the ground, they would be there for years unless an animal ate them. Toilet paper...
I don't see where anyone ridiculed him. Other than one guy who suggested a CVA accura, everyone else seems to agree. The CVA wolf is a cheap gun. It performs fine for the price point, nobody should expect them to be great, but they go bang, and with the right load should be fine for most people...
Over the years I've been on a number of duck hunting specific forums. Lots of extremely hostile people on them, with next to no moderation. They are like no other hunting forum out there. I never did find anyone I wanted to cross paths with in real life, some I questioned how they weren't...
I don't bring anything. The right grass or leaves work fine. Moss is great. If snow, that's about the best. The trick to grass is to knead it in your hands until it turns into a pad. At the end of the day you wash like you should. That's the way all humans did it for basically all of history.
I stand corrected, it appears Sitka waders are also made in the USA. Still nothing over size 14 though. Plus being a cool $1000, I'm not sure how long it would take me to stop crying after I get a small cut in them.
I forgot to mention waders. There's two styles, bootfoot and stocking foot. There's really only two materials anymore, neoprene, and breathable.
Bootfoot vs stockingfoot, here is my experience. With stockingfoot you wear a separate pair of boots on the outside. These waders are the best to walk...
