I bought an Equinox Guard hoodie recently and it is essentially the same as a LW hoodie except for the insecticide treatment. Haven’t hunted with it yet, but have worn it fishing a couple times. Was a skeptic, but my opinion has changed, is very effective. Bought it new on EBay, cost was...
I have two .17 HMRs (CZ 452 Varming, Tikka T1x) and one .22 Mag (CZ 452 American). Have used both calibers extensively for hunting and pest control. While I enjoy using the .17 HMR, it definitely doesn't have the anchoring power of the .22 mag when using 35 grain or 40 grain bullets. On...
I am a fan of monolithic copper bullets in the .243. Although I intended to handload, am getting excellent performance from Federal Trophy Copper 85 grain. 1/2” groups out of my Tikka, good expansion and penetration. All exits on deer 100 yards and in. Attached is a photo of an exit on a 200...
I recently bought a stainless T3x in .270 Win. Already owned a Sako 85 in .270, but being Walnut stocked, not very weatherproof. The .270 round is very versatile, old school. The Tikka will out shoot the Sako.
Not Tibets, but I have some Lowa Renegades that aren’t even close to my normal size. Generally wear 11 in dress shoes, 11.5 in running shoes and 13 in the Renegades. That is with a thicker sock, but still is a big variance.
I have two .243s. A Tikka and a Rem Model 7. Have taken a few whitetails over the years, switched to mono bullets a few years back. 85 grain Fed Trophy Copper shoots like target ammo out of my Tikka. Sub MOA, excellent bullet performance/penetration.
I have an older pair of goretex 400g insulated Cabelas Kangaroo wing shooter boots. (Very similar to Brownings) Had them for 20+ years, bought for pheasant hunting. My favorite boot, mock toe, very lightweight and comfortable, wear for everything. Despite my preservation efforts, uppers are...
I have a Tikka 3x in .270 (pictured) and a Sako 85 in .270. Have found that a 3x9 is plenty, used on both rifles. Have a Trijicon Huron 3x9 on the Tikka. Non illuminated reticle, but good eye relief and clarity, impressive quality. $450 or so, street price. Made under contract for Trijicon...
I have Waypoint pants, Selkirk jacket and Alpha Vertex jacket. Quality is good, durable. I wear the Alpha Vertex Jacket as a layering piece. Don't wear the pants and Selkirk as much as I used to due to the camo pattern (Terra). Doesn't work well where I currently do most of my hunting.
Update. Shopped around, got a deal on a new Torrex. Currently set at 56#, 29” DL. Over the chrono was averaging 260 with a 400 grain arrow. Much smoother draw than my 12 year old PSE. Solid back wall, quiet. Always owned flagship bows until now. This thing is a keeper.
Thinking about a new bow for whitetail hunting and recreational shooting. Just turned 65 and I need to drop down in draw weight. A 50-60# bow should be sufficient for my needs. Have previously owned bows from Bowtech and PSE, but always wanted to try a Hoyt. Would rather not drop the coin...
There is a difference. Especially in consideration of your hunting style. Tree stand, bowhunting specific, western, mountainous terrain, etc... I think Sitka stuff is well thought out, with unique design features and has the broadest product line. Sitka also sells through retail outlets, so...
