    .308 Barrel

#1375 are a favorite of mine, to my knowledge they’re in production and in stock. But yea I’ve seen them shoot well even with the 1:14 standard twist rate

    .308 Barrel

My thoughts are rechambering my Rem 700. It’s a 2nd barrel 22-250 Rem. The 60 grain HP Varminters from Sierra are lots of fun. 1:12 XCaliber did well.

    .308 Barrel

Ok, I’ll consider this. I like a big contour, especially for poi consistency for muzzle devices and my magneto speed for example.

    .308 Barrel

Ok yea, standard would be 1:12 I think. Shopping prefits and wondering what you guys are having luck with. .308 would be new to me but some of you guys have had .308 for lots and lots of years. I know what I want but wanted to hear about experience

    .308 Barrel

My apologies, this thread should probably be posted at the general discussion or rifles forum since it’s not a direct “reloading” topic.

    .308 Barrel

Ok you .308 guys. What’s the modern .308 barrel? What’s working for you guys? 5R or 6 Groove, 1:6 or another twist rate, 20” Sendero or another taper?

Help with a deer load for my 7mm08 Remington Model 7

Tubb’s Lapping bullets from MidwayUSA or your preference of store could be another option. Haven’t used them myself.

Abandon Bullet or Try Another Powder?

Ok. That makes perfect sense with the hardening.

    7-08 and big game powder.

Worked very well with a 55 grain Nos Varm and 22-250 Rem.. but now I used primarily Hodgdon Extremes, or Enduron if I have to.

Abandon Bullet or Try Another Powder?

That’s a great idea, would that work for my full length sizer too? Yea it’s really good, I’m happy with it for a lot of reasons. But a 27” barrel plus an Omega 300 makes for about an acre of rifle lol. The rifle started as a 270 Win, then re-barreled and chambered to a 280 Rem. Whidden Gunworks...

    IMR 4955 overpressure issue

Haven’t seen that. But threw away 49 pieces of Hornady Brass, when 7 of 7 split. Less than max charge of 4955 with a 139SST. My sizer could have been bumping the shoulder too much at .003 to .004 . For a 280 Rem I think the least amount of sizing is best. 4th firing on those cases.

Abandon Bullet or Try Another Powder?

My thoughts at the time were a long barrel with the 280 Rem, now I wish I would’ve chosen the 280 AI with a 20 or 22” barrel.

Abandon Bullet or Try Another Powder?

That’s not much of a sacrifice to me for better accuracy. My mind says it’s worth it. 27” barrel is a lot of length to burn powder and produce gas lol. Been using IMR4955 and a 139SST. 3000-3100fps pretty easy. But lots happier that H4831sc came available, 8 lbs to work with. I’ll try Speer...

Abandon Bullet or Try Another Powder?

This is my plan for my 280 Rem. H4831 is a top shelf powder, and it’s on the listed load data for several bullet weights, so I’ll stick with it, then I’ll try several bullets till I find the ones it likes best. Then tune a happy load from there

    Unknown Munitions Developed Loads Thread

There’s a Harrells Tuner on my bench that is used to tune. Tuned factory Rem CoreLokt to an impressive performer. They do work my thoughts and experience will agree.

Best scope for hunting 300 to 500 yards with target shooting out to 1k later

Burris Veracity? Mine are great and could do the job to 600. However, the zero stop of the elevation turret only allows one full revolution of 25 minutes. Might need more than that at 1K yds. But the Veracity is a great scope for my goals.

Does anyone recommend a beginners reloading kit?

My start was with a Hornady Lock N Load kit. The first replacement was the scale, bought an RCBS beam scale to replace the digital kit scale. Great decision too. But that’ll get you started, any kit will. Then replace as you learn… Honestly my thoughts would be with the RCBS rather than the Lock...
