#1375 are a favorite of mine, to my knowledge they’re in production and in stock. But yea I’ve seen them shoot well even with the 1:14 standard twist rate
Ok yea, standard would be 1:12 I think. Shopping prefits and wondering what you guys are having luck with. .308 would be new to me but some of you guys have had .308 for lots and lots of years. I know what I want but wanted to hear about experience
That’s a great idea, would that work for my full length sizer too? Yea it’s really good, I’m happy with it for a lot of reasons. But a 27” barrel plus an Omega 300 makes for about an acre of rifle lol. The rifle started as a 270 Win, then re-barreled and chambered to a 280 Rem. Whidden Gunworks...
Haven’t seen that. But threw away 49 pieces of Hornady Brass, when 7 of 7 split. Less than max charge of 4955 with a 139SST. My sizer could have been bumping the shoulder too much at .003 to .004 . For a 280 Rem I think the least amount of sizing is best. 4th firing on those cases.
That’s not much of a sacrifice to me for better accuracy. My mind says it’s worth it. 27” barrel is a lot of length to burn powder and produce gas lol. Been using IMR4955 and a 139SST. 3000-3100fps pretty easy. But lots happier that H4831sc came available, 8 lbs to work with. I’ll try Speer...
This is my plan for my 280 Rem. H4831 is a top shelf powder, and it’s on the listed load data for several bullet weights, so I’ll stick with it, then I’ll try several bullets till I find the ones it likes best. Then tune a happy load from there
There’s a Harrells Tuner on my bench that is used to tune. Tuned factory Rem CoreLokt to an impressive performer. They do work my thoughts and experience will agree.
Burris Veracity? Mine are great and could do the job to 600. However, the zero stop of the elevation turret only allows one full revolution of 25 minutes. Might need more than that at 1K yds. But the Veracity is a great scope for my goals.
My start was with a Hornady Lock N Load kit. The first replacement was the scale, bought an RCBS beam scale to replace the digital kit scale. Great decision too. But that’ll get you started, any kit will. Then replace as you learn… Honestly my thoughts would be with the RCBS rather than the Lock...
