I had no idea they had Veteran tags! I served 17 years in the AF.
One really awesome state is Michigan. They gave me a lifetime hunting and fishing license for $1 when I went up there to fish. The store owner paid the dollar for me too.
It's not hard. I just hate sitting still with nothing to look at. With glassing you're at least doing something.
Just hanging out waiting for something to walk into your lap just doesn't cut it for me.
I'm going to give squirrel hunting an honest chance this year though.
I'm planning the exact same. I've done about all the off-site homework I can. I'm going to get there three or four days early to really get some good scouting in.
I'm going to put in for a general that requires no points this year in Wyo. The success rate in all those areas are still north of 50%.
If you put in the work you're going to be in that 50%. Meat is meat to me, so I don't care about antlers. I get a lot of people aren't like that. If you're...
The best thing I've ever done is put a shell in my truck and a pad that goes over the bed of my truck.
Add that with a inflated pad and a 5 degree bag and you'll be fine in any weather.
As long as you're on Federal land you can park and sleep anywhere. A lot of state's don't allow camping on...
I've hunted them in Oregon with a bow four times. This will be my first year in Wyoming with a rifle.
There is a lot of great info out there on doing this and I appreciate everyone sharing the basics.
I'm from the PNW but life has taken me to the southeast.
I'm not a huge fan of whitetail hunting in these swamps so I'm getting into hunting all over the country.
I've been successful hunting just about all small and large game in the lower 48.
