    Kuiu Article

I've actually met and talked to Jason face to face a few times and like I said, I think anyone here would enjoy hanging out or sharing camp with him. I just don't understand the sentiment of him being a terrible person to have voicing the opinion of us as backcountry/public land hunters. How...

    Write to Zinke

Submit Your Public Lands Comments to the Department of the Interior - REI Co-op Journal REI organized to have their members submit letters to zinke on their view of our public lands. I'm sure most of us are members. Bet REI won't expect a bunch of hunters to participate, but I hope they're...

    Scouting Season

Nice Nomad. Where in west Tx are you/is your spot? Is that public or private? Water holes have to be pretty productive out there.

    Kuiu Article

I think there's a big point to this that hasn't been mentioned. Everyone is talking about how retail is failing. Kuiu opening brick and mortar stores/showrooms is not really retail. He's going to be producing product either way, so this is just a more visible outlet for people who don't spend...

Solo or Two person Shelter Tut or Redcliff??

Correct me if I'm wrong, but tape is applied by a machine. It's exactly what you said, they're mass producing these things and have the money to justify having an expensive machine. "Bigger" companies also are appealing more to the masses which probably runs them into a lot of potential first...

    Sitka flash pullover

With the list weight and pictures, I'm assuming it's very similar to that piece from a few years ago. The face fabric is more similar to a rain jacket than a softshell. Probably about half way between the two as far as how it feels. That one did have some stretch to it. I don't see that listed...

    Sitka flash pullover

Haven't seen this one yet, but they made something similar to it a few years ago. I can't remember the name of it though. It had a full zip and was an UL wind layer. No pockets. It was not windstopper. This one is windstopper and the seams are taped so it's fairly close to what an UL 3 layer...

Buy Once Cry Once Shelter... Backyard Photos.

Greg do you have any idea what the process is for those bonded seams? I hadn't seen that before and that's really interesting. Looks like it doesn't really change weight, but you said they're supposed to be stronger than sewn seams?

    Sitka ascent pants on camofire

Not a thing wrong for stand hunting except like was said, they're just light weight. I live in Texas so it doesn't get too cold but I wear mine in my treestand the entire season. They're not noisy at all. Given I've had mine for 5+ years so they're broken in really well. You'll be really happy...

Great Deal - Lowa Sheep Hunter, size 10

I ran across these on ebay. Great deal for someone if they need a solid boot. Access Denied

    Stiff boots....

From a durability perspective, no, boots don't wear out more quickly just because they are more flexible. I think what your run into as that stiff soled boots use heavier material throughout the boot and as a result end up being more durable/lasting longer. Lighter weight/more flexible footwear...

    Texas Mule Deer

I haven't drawn any of those lol. That's part of what we're talking about. My reference to solitude meant that I can't get a few miles from a road or almost all other people and stay there. If you've drawn hunts out there, then you know better than I do that you get to hunt for the day and then...

    Texas Mule Deer

Sorry, not following you... You talking about some of the WMA draw hunts mentioned that have some elk? I think those are what we're all frustrated with. Terrible draw odds and hunt format. I've looked into Lake Meredith a lot more the last week. While it is cool that we have an option here in...

WTB Down Quilt 20 degree or lower

Dang. I've been heavily leaning to an APEX Revelation from EE for this year. A big part of my decision has been the wet performance of the synthetic, but I'd be lying if I said price wasn't part of it as well. Now with this option, I'm having to reconsider. Those are awesome prices. EE used...

2016 Idaho Mule Deer pt. 2

Congrats on what I would say is a buck of a lifetime! But at the rate you're going, I think you're going to have more than one of those in your lifetime. The 3rds on that boy! How long are they? They look almost as high as his back end in a couple of those pics!

Synthetic bag question for a newbie

Yes. All synthetic insulation will still insulate when wet... but to varying degrees. Climashield Apex, Primaloft and other top shelf options will most likely do the best job. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there is a centralized test/parameter that measures the warmth...
