    And the newer factory rifles have more consistent chambers. If I had a 7MM Mag I would not get a PRC. I did not have any .284's so I am likeing the7mm PRC.

    A big no on elk! My kids used them on deer and antelope and there was not much left on the ones recovered. Go NAB 125 for elk, in my rifles they shot the same with Varget and H335.

    It would be 3-trips for me. Hang the meat in the shade and as long as it gets down in the 40's at night it will not spoil. 3-5 miles where I hunt elk is 1500-2500 vertical feet climb. It is doable, but not desirable. Good luck.

    Not on your list and experiences may vary but I like my Athlon BTR Gen 2 2-12. I have them on several rifles and beat the hell out of them.

    They raid my property weekly! I never see them but tracks everywhere, a destroyed shed, steeling containers. We always see signs but the oak brush is so thick they would be hard to glass. Nearest entry point from the public side is Dalton Campground. This year seems to be more than normal.

    Hornady 175gr ELDX and factory loads. I am going to bump up the charge and should break 2900. I am pretty sure the factory load is Staball but can't prove it.

    H1000 and H4831 never broke 2900 in my 22" barrel. 2876 was my top speed, same with the factory.

    VX6 2-12 is about perfect but they need to offer better reticles. I love the B&C ones I have, very good glass and hold zero.

    In 06 Mag primers work well with H4831 and RL 22 but I would just start in the middle and work up looking for pressure signs.

    You can't have 2-of the same caliber is the rule but my son will have his paperwork. It doesn't get more African than the 7x57 (7-08), 9.3. First-world problems trying to decide what gun to take.

    I asked what you took, hunting plains game so just passing time and seeing what calibers were used. We kill oryx in NM so not worried about the 30-06.
