Not your usual "first rifle" question

It's funny you use 350 Legend as an example. I agree with you that I wouldn't buy a new rifle in that caliber right now based on availability during this crazy situation. However, I bought one early last year for Eastern whitetail hunting, pre-pandemic, and it has proven to be the caliber that...

    First Elk Rifle? Need Advice

I really love my Bergara Premier Series rifle. I bought the Stalker model at the same time as I bought a Fierce Fury. Kept the Bergara. The Premier series is marketed in the same semi-custom quality as Fierce, Cooper , etc.

    What's wrong with a Savage?

I don't really care for the Accutrigger concept. I certainly don't have extensive experience with it. My only Savage has been the 220 bolt action slug gun for whitetail hunting. I'm sure it's a personal preference thing but I just didn't "get" the benefit of the Accutrigger and I found the...

Long-ish Range Capable Factory Rifle Suggestions (7mm Rem Mag)

I don’t have the models of Bergara you listed but the Premier Stalker model I have is a great MOA shooter out to 600 yards with factory ammo. All I had to do was scope it and shoot.

Going without binos to bow hunt?

I only use binos for stand hunting if I’m hunting on a field or if it’s a gun season.

Kuiu Rubicon compared to FirstLite Corrugate jacket

I’m bumping this just to see if anyone may be able to provide some feedback. Thanks!

    Active Fleece Mid Layer

I don’t have tons of comparison in hunting clothes, but I have always appreciated my First Lite Halstead. It has been great for early morning insulation, and mid day outer layer. Recently, I purchased a Klamath hooded version. Wow, it is awesome! Same attributes as the Halstead but the hood...

    .30/06 thoughts

I love my Bergara Premier Stalker in 30-06. It is great with factory loaded Federal Premium Barnes TSX, 180 grains. In addition to a couple mule deer at 200 and 440 yards, I killed a bull elk this past fall at 510 yards. I'm glad the rifle likes the Barnes bullets, because I'm impressed with...

    Wind resistance layer

It’s funny you say that. I’m short as well and that is exactly what happened with this piece. The Sitka Mountain Vest fits me perfectly in large, but the Mountain jacket is too long in the sleeves.

    Wind resistance layer

I use a Sitka Mountain vest for this purpose. It works well to block the wind whether the vest is the outer layer or a mid layer. Being a vest, I can move in it and limit the sweat a bit.

    Rifle minimalists

I fall mainly in the minimalist camp. I enjoy shooting, but I shoot to prepare for hunting as opposed to hobby shooting. I have a 30-06 I love, it has great glass, it shoots a factory load very well, not too heavy to carry, have had success with it and I plan to use it for antelope to moose...
