The end of your second paragraph is bang on about why a 14-18x SFP scope is not ideal for hunting scenarios. Say an animal presents itself at 300 yards and you have limited amount of time to dial for the shot requiring reticle holdovers. With a SFP you have to be at maximum magnification for the...
I think the 4-14x F1 SHV would be fantastic besides the weight. For a mountain rifle something in the low 20 ounces is all I wanted to put on the rifle.
I don’t mind the SFP in 10x scopes. If I’m compensating for drop past what a 200 yard zero will reach I will be at 10x magnification anyways...
This. I have the NF SHV 3-10x42 on a 30-06 and feel this magnification is perfect out to 500 yards. Too much magnification is a hindrance especially in a second focal plane rifescope. The zero stop and increased durability of the NXS would be ideal.
I will throw another scope in to consider as my usage is exactly what you described besides the eastern hunting. For ~$1000 scope with reliability and durability as a priority with the ability to reach out to 500 yards I am very happy with the Nightforce SHV 3-10x42 MOAR reticle with center...
I received my Meostar B1 Plus 15x56 this week and had a chance to spend time with them on the tripod yesterday so these are my initial thoughts and a comparison to the Maven B5 15x56 that I had had demoed and setup on a tripod in the same location.
Ergonomics- The Meopta are very sturdy with...
I pulled the trigger and ordered the Meopta B1 Plus 15x56 yesterday. I’ll be sure to report back my thoughts on them and a comparison with the Maven 15x56 although unfortunately I had to return those being a demo pair. In the coming year as I rebuild my hunting fund I will be looking for the...
Thanks so much for your input. That’s the exact comparison I was hoping to find. I think for my use 8x32 on my chest with the ability to tripod mount and 15x56 in my pack will be the perfect setup.
My wife wants my 10x42 Conquests to replace her Diamondbacks so I figured I’d “downgrade” to the slightly lighter weight and wider FOV of 8x32 Conquests if I’m adding 15’s.
I'm interested in upgrading my optics setup and currently use Zeiss Conquest HD 10x42 on a Sirui T-024sk with VA-5 head. I enjoy the Conquests but find when glassing 1/2 to 2 miles out I'd like to be able to see more detail. I would like to be able determine a mature animal at longer distances...
Self plug here, I'm selling a Nikon ED50 with 13-40 eyepiece. If you do some research on here it is very well regarded among the 50mm scopes and in the price range you're looking at. I'm selling to fund some 15x56 binos...
Nikon ED50 13-40x50 straight spotting scope in excellent condition with no scratches or imperfections. Comes with scope cover and weighs 24oz with the cover. It’s clear to 40x and is the next best compact spotter to the Kowa 553/554 with less weight and 1/3 the cost.
$475 tyd goods and services...
Seek Outside Silvertip in green with no screens, stove jack and standard medium stove. It includes line locks and stakes. I found a single trekking pole fully extended with a rock under it is perfect to avoid the trekking pole hitch. The tent has about 10 nights and stove has 4 burns. Weight...
Thats a hell of a deal on those. I wouldn‘t be able to complain about low light anymore but my weight weenie side might start to show.
I‘ve got a hunt coming mid September that I plan to demo some Maven 15x56 to try the big glass and maybe in the future pair it with an 8x30 if I like em...
Good condition, 7-10 days of use on it and I seam sealed it. Only damage is in the last photo near one of the tieouts.
$100 tyd or trade + cash for an Eolus.
I'm excited to hear more input on the B6. I currently use 10x42 Conquest HDs and am very happy with them besides the low light performance. In last 30 minutes of light I often find myself leaving the binos on my tripod and looking with my bare eyes because of lack of light transmission. The...
Thanks for your input on the MB Alpine. I’m having a tough time deciding between that and the Grumman myself and since the Alpine is so new it’s tough to get feedback on it. Have you run into any issues with the untreated down wetting out with light snowfall or condensation? I always carry a...
