In base layers and around freeing and it wasn't warm enough for me. I do tend to sleep cold. The Klymit I got is about double the R value of the T-rest.
Yea that mountain hunting is only for the toughest of manly men. If you can't do 50 consecutive one legged pistol squats then may as well stick to the truck and road hunt :p.

Haven’t made my own quilt, but run a 0f EE revelation on a Klymit Static V Insulated Ultralight (the old style thermarest wasn’t warm enough with a quilt).
It also happens to be my favorite caribou pack. The waterproof X-pack fabric is a nice feature in the mountains, but a little noisier in the timber.
I hear you on the distributors...being in northern BC there isn't much access to the high end packs. I can't compare to Stone Glacier, Kifaru...

The Seek Outside packs are comfy and light weight. Modular frame design can go from 24", to 26", to 28" by easily adding extensions. Lots of options for fixed bag style, vs removable bag with load shelf (as shown above - the Evolution frame and compression talon works awesome for packing...

Personally i'm trying to steer clear of brands that support trying to shut down hunting, be it ungulates or predators.

The fabric on the Badlands is more quite and makes less noise when brush rubs against it. Also on the BL the rubber patch on the shoulder strap does help hold the rifle sling in place.
I own neither, but have used floorless shelters and tarps. Both are listed at 1lb 14oz - so my choice would be the MT Smith LT shelter. The LT shelter would be easier to set up and more storm worthy. The ambush tarp would give more options for set up.
