I was gifted a $100 kuiu gift card and have the 20% off bday coupon for the next 30 days.
I don’t really need much from Kuiu so looking for recommendations on what to pick up, so what would you buy with $150 from Kuiu.
I already have the following from Kuiu: chugach jacket, merino tops and...
I really like my Hammockgear Econ Burrow 20*.
it works well, packs small and you can even get one on clearance. It is pretty warm and would be a good summer quilt. Not as light as a few of the others mentioned but also a little bit less expensive.
I like the military style backpacks for my work. I bike or walk to work and usually have my laptop, rain jacket, water, and notepad along with other small things. I carry a Mystery Ranch Assault 2 and it gets the job done alright.
I’ve run the Metcalf for whitetail in Ohio, I run and gun with a Lone Wolf hang on and sticks. It is okay for that purpose but lacks the easy organization I wanted while in the tree. I actually started to use a large waste pack that I attached to my stand and used the stand as a load hauler. The...
Thanks everyone, too bad about the bowhunting which I had read about.
I’ll have to figure out obtaining a firearm, as I know they have a pretty stringent process from what I have read - maybe on a visit back to the US I’ll grab one and bring it back. I’ll see if I can track down any info from...
The job is taking me and my family to Norway. I’ll miss the opportunity to take part in the mountains of the U.S. but will take all the knowledge I’ve gained here overseas.
If anyone has any experience hunting anything in Norway I would be interested in your experience.
I appreciate all the...
I made the same transition a couple years ago. I bought a bow new online and all the accessories individually, not a bow package. It costed a little over $1000. This was for good quality gear. Other than the bow, the sight and release were most expensive. I still shoot both but really enjoy the...
In 8x32, you may be able to find an older pair of Swaro SLC habicht 7x30 or 8x30 for what would be near the top end of your budget. Just a thought and you’d get good optical quality. I have a pair of 7x30 that are 30years old and work great.
edit: I’m not an optics snob, so not pushing for...
I don’t know if I have much to add for the rangefinder in cold temps conversation. But will say that I dropped a Sig rangefinder in a creek and when I called them and told them what happened. They shipped me a brand new one of a better model as mine was an older model. It was great service...
Yeah I got it as a gift and it’s been my go to ever since. I’ll take a few more ounces over a a replaceable blade every day because it means something to me.
I actually started with a stick bow and ran it for about 7 years before shooting a compound for the first time, I probably WAS a trad snob. I still shoot both but mostly take my compound to hunt now.
Like Beendare said, there’s people that shouldn’t hunt with a stick bow. It requires near...
96 lbs every day! That’s a lot on a daily basis. Have you taken a break so it could heal?
I run a metcalf and have a Marshall both on guide light, never had this problem with any weight. Are the plastic pieces inside the hip belt digging in? What size belt is it?
I had 2 Kuiu guide jackets. One was camo for hunting other major brown for around town. It is such a styled jacket and the fit is phenomenal. That said, I sold my camo jacket as it didn’t cut wind as well as I wanted and used the money to buy a hard shell Kuiu Chucach. I still rock the brown one...
Not sure what you would consider budget friendly, but I have a Black Gold Whitetail ascent and it’s a movable sight and really nice but not insanely pricey. I’ve seen some as returns at S&S Archery that are discounted a decent amount. Could be a good option to find one that way.
I run a 20 degree HammockGear quilt to about 30 degrees with a Klymit VLux insulated pad. I was fine while wearing a beanie and wore merino bottoms and a merino top. But I sleep hot. A lot of factors though too. It can still get cold, I found out, in September. Your shelter can play into it too...
It seems like there is a lot of varying opinions on Luxe. I and my brother took our Mini Peaks to Idaho this past year and had terrible weather, rain and 20s in September and they Luxe did their job. I’ve had their trekking poles too and also had no problem with either shipping or customer...
