No string will do that period, if it did it would corner the market in sales or wear our extremely fast. With that said, I bought some Gas XV which have only lost 1.5lbs from 74 to 72.5 and has stayed there with proper string maintenance but I did have quit a bit of peep rotation at first.
Curious to see what chokes/TSS have patterned best for everyone? This year I’m running a 301 Stevens 20G Indian Creek .555 with #8 TSS from Verdict Ammunition.
I have 85% and 80% mods for my V3 27. My experience with them is the 80% is a much more smoother draw. With that said, at over 70lbs the 80% mods are way jumpier than the 85%. The bow wants to go, I prefer the 85% because it holds on target better, I shoot an index and am not concerned or...
I like a shorter heavier bow for a tree stand hunt. I’ll take the extra advantages that stabilizers add all day especially if I only have to carry it to and from the truck to the stand and back.
I wouldn’t pay $500 for a hunting sight especially given the performance of any MGB is really more than adequate, especially if you have micro adjust and .10 pro pin. If you have deep pockets and don’t care send it. Arxos but they haven’t worked all the bugs out of them yet.
I’m not sure if you’re interested in going down to 50lb draw in order to avoid going to a crossbow but sounds like the Mathews Image is exactly what you’re looking for.
I’ve shot these dampners the last three days at 30 yards and I believe they do reduce the shot noise. I was shooting my V3 with no string silencers on my gas strings and it’s the most noisy my bow has been. I added wishbones in addition to these dampners and my shot noise is considerably less...
I’m waiting on my Pine Ridge wishbones to arrive. Once they do, I’m going to have my wife listen to the bow as I shoot.
1. Bare No dampners No string silencers
2. Just dampners
3. String silencers and dampners
I will update you guys to see what I find out.
Insightful analysis considering Hoyt, Prime, Elite and Bowtech come factory with limb dampners. Mathews feels so strongly about limb dampening they built the dampners right into the limbs.
Unpopular opinion but you can be extremely accurate with a index without a surprise shot. He even stated he had target panic with a thumb then he switched back it dissolved probably because he shoots the index with a command style. I’ve never shot a pistol or rifle with my thumb and certainly...
