    Kansas?

I relocated from CA to NE and was very encouraged by the responses of people on another forum regarding potential opportunities. Well, to say I have been disappointed would be an understatement. Coming from a western state with millions of acres of public land to a plains state with limited...

    Wilderness trails in kmz file?

Thanks for the input guys. I'm away on business for a few days but I'll check out the links when I'm back in front of a computer. Mcr -85, I assume that's ESRI data? Thanks mtnrunner...I may take you up on the offer if I go that route.

    Vortex Summit SS-P

Gotcha.... I more or less outfit my brother who is my hunting parter. We are both glassing off tripods this year. One tripod with my 10x42s and the other with the 50 mm. Obviously when I scout alone I only take one tripod for both binos and spotter.

    Vortex Summit SS-P

I've been using the High Country tripod for the past year with the 50 mm and it does as designed. I think the Summit tripod itself is superior and just swapping back and forth between ball heads and the pan head in the backyard I feel the pan head is the way to go. With the ball head I...

Hog attack vid- worth a look

I had a buddy in CA who was riding his four wheeler through a brushy area when all the sudden it was on top of him.... He squirmed out from under it and a large boar was standing there having stunned himself when he rammed the side of the ATV. He shot him point blank with the .270 that had been...

    Wilderness trails in kmz file?

Beendare, Oh yeah, I have the .exe files on my Garmin and it includes only the very well established trails. There are several I use that are not identified on the Garmin map file yet can be found on my 7.5' quadrangle paper map. What I'm trying to do is overlay known trails on the...

    Wilderness trails in kmz file?

I've been scouring the net looking for a .kmz file to overlay in Google earth that outlines the established wilderness trails in Northern CA. I've found wilderness boundary files on wilderness.net and also trail GPS files (.exe). But can't seem to find a simple trail overlay for google earth...

    Vortex Summit SS-P

I just wanted to follow up in case anyone was interested in the Summit SS-P. I just received the shipment from ElkNut (excellent service). The Summit tripod itself is hands down superior to the High Country. It's much more stable and appears to be made of better components. Being this is the...

    Kuiu 4th Sale?

2 weeks ago I bought a Merino 1/4 zip, Attack pants, cotton tee, hat, and bino harness.... All in stock, arrived in a matter of days.

    Texas canned hunts ??

With this crowd I'd think you be hard pressed to find folks that enjoy to hunt out of a tree let alone inside a fence. That being said, my first "hunt" was whitetail in South TX on a LF. I had no experience "hunting" big game and it afforded me the opportunity to at least experience the kill...

Boots Similar to the Salomon Quest 4D

I just got the Salomons a few weeks ago and am thrilled with them so far. I shredded a pair of Danners in just a few hunts and the UA Speed Freaks didn't last much longer. I believe the Quest 4D has much better support than either of those yet still allows plenty of comfort. That being...

    California Drought

Season is nearly upon us. The forage is either there or it isn't.... What are you guys seeing that are out there scouting? My future father in law runs cattle and has had his natural spring go dry for only the 2nd time since 1973. I for one won't be counting on my old springs holding water...

    Vortex Summit SS-P

Hmmm, nice. That gives me an idea, I wonder if I could remove the ball off the high country and replace it with the panhead from the Vortex SS-p then buy the PH-111v for it. Essentially upgrading the high country in the process.

    Tents/Shelters Being Stolen?

Ha. Maybe subconsciously I convinced myself they were dented up. The guy was really nice about it. Poor guy.... But why carry a six pack all that way and choose Keystone!?!

    Vortex Summit SS-P

The Vortex website has the setup listed at 2.0 lbs? Is this not accurate?

    Vortex Summit SS-P

Before I'm chastised....I've read through all the tripod threads multiple times. I was settled on a Slik Sprint Mini ii and PH 111v head until I came across the Summit SS-P.... I have my backup binos and my razor 50 setup on my Vortex High Country (POS). The only reason I entertain the...

Early archery deer. What is the longest duration you had meat in pack?

You just gave every USDA inspector a heart attack. My best friend is a meat scientist and he refused to remove the viscera of a hog we killed in the field because of the likelihood of introducing any microbes to the meat.... I'd rather get camphlyobacter than ever have to drag a 280 lb hog...

    Tents/Shelters Being Stolen?

I came across a six pack of Keystone light in a stream a few years ago. I was in an area so remote I figured it must have been washed down as the cans were fairly dented. I was 3 beers in when the poor bastard walked up on me sunning myself on a rock enjoying the beers he carried 8 miles in...

    Muzzy Trocar experience?

My brother has them and says they fly great. Keep them away from your string and cables though.... They are insanely sharp out of the box!
