Well, our company doesn't have any "slope" rigs. We're owned by a larger company who is specifically up on the slope. But they only rent commercially (all the oil companies and whatnot). All those rigs are outfitted for the slope. Us as the consumer side of things, don't have specific vehicles...
Ooof. Gotta hide that spare! We were definitely going slow, too. We were in a Jeep Wrangler. Those things only go 40mph before they fall apart. :ROFLMAO: I've never had a flat up there either, but this time was bad.
Lots of construction and rebuilding of the road. Other parts are just small rocks like this for miles and miles. Some sharp ones laying around. My best bet is that all of my punctures were rocks. Not like a normal city road where it could be a screw or other random piece of metal.

I had a customer drive a vehicle up to Prudhoe and leave it there, so I decided to make the best of it and fly up and drive it back down. My dad has never driven the full road despite working in the oil and gas industry since the 70's. He's now in his late 70's so I decided to bring him along...
Every single pull out on the highway from Anchorage to Homer will have guys in camo with binos pointed up a at the mountains. Pick an empty one and sit for awhile. You're bound to spot one eventually.
I just looked at my calendar and it looks like I'm departing Anchorage around August 31st and headed up to PRU then. If anyone needs anything around that time, I'll be available. I'll be up for a week or so. I can meet up with anyone generally at any time as I'll be checking on our customers...
There was just a thread about this. It might answer some of your questions. I just use Onx and always have my InReach and a backup GPS with me. Never had an issue with Onx.
I have all that stuff you're more than welcome to borrow - only problem is that I'm in Anchorage. I'll be up there a ton this fall, but no solid dates yet.
I'm just curious what others do with their transportation to and from their bait station. I've been lucky enough to have never had anything chew on my wheeler seats, but I know bears are notorious for it. This year, I'm using my Argo to get to our stand. It has a full cab built onto it from...
All the pump stations have cell service as well. It’s nice if you forget to download one of the maps, you can stop by one and download one.

Ahh, you must be the van that’s still being repaired.
First off- let me apologize for that. Our Fairbanks office just went through a major staff change. (Relieving of previous management (for reasons like this, completely new staff, etc). They were, and still are, rather disorganized, but it’s...
Not a ton. I use an iPad and my iPhone. I have my iPad in my Argo as a GPS, and only use the iPad for that. So it’s not a big deal. I only have high def maps for the really targeted areas.

I do both. I have maps downloaded for the whole highway - from Fairbanks to Prudhoe. Then I had higher res maps downloaded for more specific areas that I want to hunt. But you never know with caribou, so they might be in an area 100 miles from where you think you're going to hunt, so you still...
