Mountain quail and grouse open tomorrow. I’ve seen lots of valley quail and a couple of grouse my last time out in the woods for archery season. Hoping to find a bunch of birds a little higher up.
Finally got out and shot my rifle.
Started with a magazine (4 round group) of cheaper 139 gr lead hornady to get the feel for the gun. The top two shots are my first shots with the rifle. I was getting the feel for the stock and trigger. Shooting prone in nf at 100 yards, not from a bench...
Here’s an awesome little knife. The maker of both the knife and sheath are members on BCUSA. They are probably both on instagram as well.
I carried it once or twice but can’t remember if I ever used it. I believe it’s 8670. I followed the makers instructions and filled some of the shallow pits...
The trigger on the sauer is excellent. Super crisp.
I picked up the rifle today. I’ll get some better pictures soon, but I’m wondering if these scope bases are the incorrect size. Maybe for short action? Thoughts? Am I good or should I ask them to swap them out.
did they install the incorrect...
The unexpected happened…
I went to get either a Tikka or weatherby and the shop owner handed me a sauer in 7mm mag and offered me a deal. Pretty much threw in a Leupold VX freedom cds for free. They are going to site it in and run it through a chronograph for The new dial during the 10 day...
Didn’t make it to the watch guy. In the next town and has limited hours.
Let’s say $200. Any lower and I’d rather keep it.
the crown screws down tightly.
Great advice. I have had the chance to those fortunately which helped me narrow it down. if you’re in the Oregon coast range our environment is probably pretty similar in the CA b zones.
I’ll probably go synthetic, but I’m a traditional guy and I think wood looks nice lol. This 20 gauge CZ...
I’m really thinking of going with a blued Tikka to keep the price down. The rabbit hole readings tell me that the stainless barrels rust fairly easily anyway. I think rust in the PNW climate is just something you have to deal with. Either that or the used weatherguard vanguard. I like the stock...
Here’s a PST in pretty much perfect condition except the little flat head. I must have messed it up at some point. I’m 99 percent sure leatherman would replace that tool if you desire. Their customer service is beyond excellent. Everything is virtually like new as this was new old stock in my...
I know people use lighter calibers, but the northwest is super super thick and I’d prefer not to have to track a bear super far through thick stuff.
I’ll read through the threads.
Looks like Tikka is the fan favorite but not even a little.
What caliber would you all recommend for a black bear and blacktail rifle?
I don’t plan to hunt elk any time soon, but it would be awesome to some day. A cous deer trip might eventually happen but generally I’ll be hunting northern...
