    I would not buy anything from CA. I have a mesa that shoots like absolute dog shit and is essentially a paperweight. Buy a tikka, rebarrel it and put it in your stock of choice and it will shoot. Or buy a roughtech and don’t worry so much about your weight.

    Depends on twist. I have a tikka 1:8 243 and it loved the 105 bergers VLD. I’ve killed a coyote and and antelope with them and had great results but that’s the limits of my anecdote. I couldn’t get the 90-95 grain options to shoot for shit but the standard 1:10 243s probably love those.

    I’m in southern IN and there’s 5-6 ranges within an hour that coordinate their schedules so there is a shoot nearly every weekend spring thru fall so there’s always an option. So it must be regional?

    Yeah that’s where I’ve been leaning. I looked at UM but they were almost $1000 after fluting and that’s just a lot to stomach on a build I’m trying to keep reasonable. Ironically I did message that guy on that barrel but I was too slow!

    When I say #3 I’m using it loosely - I mostly mean I’m looking for a heavier sporter thick enough to spiral flute so I was looking at UM’s #3 or a bartlein #3 as my basis and planned to match the contour with whatever said barrels contour is close to that.
