I just bought a Anjan 3 for me and my hunting partner to use here in AK for sheep. Hilleberg's 3 season tents are alot more bombproof then most other 4 season tents. The GT model was intriguing but I ultimately went with weight more in mind. Kodiak, AK weather will definitely not be seeing my...
For going lightweight I run a Slik sprint mini 2 tripod. I put a Sirui VA-5 head on it. Comes in at 40 oz. I run a Swaro STS 65mm on it. For backcountry hunts I dont need to stand while glassing so this set up works for me.
With all these "waterproof" breathable rainwear its important to clean it as well. Once a year I'll use nikwax cleaning solution and then waterproof solution in my washer for my SEAK jacket. Never had an issue.
Outdoor Research Ferrosi hoodie jackets (lightweight jacket, grid jacket), Arcteryx Delta LT fleece hoodie, Arcteryx Kyanite fleece hoodie, Prana stretch zion pants. Helly Hanson rain gear for non active hunts. The rest I use First Lite for active rain gear, base layers, and puffys. Everything...
For you guys that have been using it this summer, how has this held up to winds? I'm curious on this with the nest as an option for sheep hunting in Alaska.
I had the Long Range for a couple years. Extremely well built and bulletproof and wasn't a bad pack. But I found it way to heavy, not real load lifters, and wayyyy to many pockets. I wanted lightweight and minimalist design. I went to a Stone Glacier and am extremely happy I did.
I love mine. I switched from a AGC too. The built in rain fly is great as well. I find the rangefinder pouch doesn't move to much once you have the harness on. When I take it off the rangefinder pouch moves on me, I just have to slide it into position once I put the harness back on. Not a big...
It was 100% replacement if it failed due to manufacturer error, (stitching/zippers) that kind of stuff. Not sure what the warranty is now with basspro merger.

Thanks for the advice. The struggle and pocket book is real when it comes to going light for sure. I mainly moose hunt but have wanted to get into mountain hunting. So over the last several years when ever I've "needed" new gear I've tried to consider weight knowing I might hit the mountains...
Yeah we have definitely talked this over a little. Great points you have Troutbum. We are only taking 1 rifle, 1 cook kit, 1 kill kit, 1 first aid kit, 1 range finder, 1 water filter, and 1 battery bank. We did talk about only bringing 1 set of optics but we both kinda thought that since we were...
Thanks for all the feed back, keep it coming!! I'll do a general response/hit on a couple points.
It appears I pack my insecurities in extra clothing Haha. I'm not used to long 10 day + extended hunt so I can definitely see how I over packed on the clothes department. I'll trim that down...
Yeah I had a feeling clothing was gonna be my best bet to trim some fat. Unfortunately I dont have the lightest rain jacket and rain pants. With it being my first sheep hunt I wasn't sure how much clothes I needed. I could cut out the Klamath and allegany base bottoms. Which would drop almost 2...
