Here is my 2 cents. Pick whichever you want but make getting a suppressor for them to use a priority! My wife and daughters didn’t enjoy shooting that much regardless of cartridge until I got a suppressor. Now they actually look forward to it! Just my personal experience so take it for what...
It’s an impressive rifle but I didn’t hunt with it quite as much as I thought.
Only thing I have killed with it is a squirrel with subsonic loads in the 22 hornet barrel.
The 22 hornet barrel and the 6.5x55 barrel that came with it are exceptionally accurate and consistent. I quite honestly...
If you already have a smith that is into single shots and phenomenal at wood (a rare combo these days) then I wouldn’t even consider carbon fiber for the stock (unless you were referring to the barrel but I still wouldn’t do that). Probably the hardest part now will be picking out the stock...
my vote is to send it to RJ Renner and have him do his stalking rifle treatment on it minus lowering of the comb so it still works best for a scope. And chambered in 300 H&H magnum with a 24 inch barrel. It would have to have a red pad as well
Thanks THRL for the response.
I have the same rifle you’re using in the same caliber that I picked up last year and I have been shocked with how accurate it is and it’s perfect return to zero when reassembling it.
Mine is definitely accurate enough to deserve a scope that can dial.
How did...
I have been considering this exact same thing for an ultra light build. Currently have a SWFA 3-9 ready for it but wouldn’t mind a smaller scope for such a tiny rifle. Must be a solid scope though for me to switch
I dropped a nitrided barreled action off at my smith to have the barrel shortened and threaded for a suppressor. His tooling won’t even scratch it (I’m assuming just HSS) and he’s uncomfortable trying anything else on it to cut through the nitride. Anyone have a recommendation of a smith that...
Here is a pic of my SWFA 3-9 in lows.
I put the pins in the threaded base holes on mine (they slid in with little resistance so I locktighted them into the holes so they don’t migrate into the action).
I’m in the camp that finds the glass very good (for a rifle scope) in my SWFA 3-9 HD. I don’t own a SWFA 12x so can’t compare.
I will say that comparing alpha binoculars and spotting scopes to any rifle scope I have ever used will definitely leave you disappointed in the scope.
I have never...
Thanks, now I need to decide if it would be worth the coin for the weight savings. I was hoping these would weigh closer to 45 ounces which would have made my choice way easier!
