How old are they? I wouldn't get young kids anything nice. I bought my 7 and 5 year old these a year or two ago and they have been great.

Just a pro tip-hang them up relatively high so bulls don't rake them and bears don't get curious and gnaw on them. Its always a bummer when you leave them up for months and find them destroyed on the ground when you return.
Don't forget to keep any water bladders, hoses, and nozzles warm as well. They might start freezing after your start your hunt, but you don't want to begin the hunt with a frozen nozzle or hose. Thats the worst. I've made that mistake too many times.
I watched this bull make this print in a wallow this year (it should have been one of his last steps but I missed my shot). The definition isn't great because of the mud, but this was a large 6x6. When in the snow, I find it pretty easy to pick out the bull tracks. The size and claws are pretty...
Fantastic shot. Don't over analyze it. No need too. I shot a bull this year at 30 yards. Hit him perfectly in the lungs. I've learned to shoot a little further back from the crease to reduce the risk of a shoulder shot. Elk's lungs are huge. The bull I shot this year was hit midline square in...
Only elk I have shot solo was about a 2 mile pack out. I shot a calf on the last day of archery season at 2 yards. I quartered it and was able to get everything out in one trip. It was all down hill and about 60% trail. Difficulty level was a 2. I have had way harder group elk pack outs. I...
My dad and I have been archery hunting elk together every year for the last ten years. It has always been my favorite trip of the year. He drives from Iowa to my place in CO and stays with us for a week or two depending on whatever else we have going on in our lives. He has had a hand full of...
Ready, sure. Prepared, not really. Am I pumped to get out there, yup.
Hear elk bugling 2 weeks ago! Doesn't feel the same when you don't have your bow with you.
If he is like me, and probably most hunters, he might already have too many knives. I take people every year and as a token of appreciation they sometimes give me certain things. I'd go hunting with him and see what you could upgrade for him after the trip.
I am certain that when you hunt with...
I wonder if people that draw the mule deer/antelope tags this year will turn them back in to reserve their points for a different unit or after these rebound. The antelope tags take 5-6 points. I got a tag for unit 5 last year with 7 points and was successful. I don't know what I would have...
I had a cot for my GPS for 10 years, She tears up every single other bed. The only reason I don't have a cot anymore is because she's older, and the cot sun rotted.
For yours, I think it would do sneaking right turn, just so that the bigger side get accentuated a bit more. Nice bulls, That length on yours is seriously impressive. That brow tine made me do a double take!
T_Carlson nailed it. If he is hunting near his house, you may be shacking up there in comfort. Thats what I do. I haven't used my backpacking tent in 4 years. I haven't needed it.
