    I'm a pessimist on this stuff, after working through data on all 11 western states I NEVER plan on anything coming out on time. Especially after Covid put all the state workers at home typical dates for everything got moved around, in particular when you could reliably expect data to come out.

    How many days to you devote to an elk trip?

    It really depends on the hunt. If it is a hard to draw tag well I am hunting for as long as possible. With a couple of recoup days in there. If it is an OTC general tag well that is a different story.

    I am by no means a horse expert, but every one that I hunt with has echoed this. Highline has been good for much of the country we hunt, and many of the guys I hunt with prefer not to hobble in grizzly country.

    At some point it will head there and residents likely won't be immune from it either. We have heard discussions for limitations on regions for residents as well in regards to deer.

    All of this is true from what we have seen and heard talking to a LOT of people who have been in the system the bottom end is getting loaded up again. People who were in the middle points wise have been going in on the general hunts just to get out of the trap or they burned on a mid grade unit...

    Irony of Irony, and depending on if you the numbers but hunting overall seems to be down. However, western hunting has become the in thing and Covid exasperated it with lots of people not being able to do things like Africa, Canada or even Alaska. Weird world.
