By definition, when you move the shoulder back, you lengthen the neck. So don't be surprised at the trimming.
But, when you neck size, and you don't muck with the shoulder, trimming should not be necessary. I use a Lee collet-style neck-size die on my 270Win casings and it is possible to set the...
Lightweight is the wrong concern - increases recoil. Worry more about getting something with adjustable length of pull so they shoulder it correctly. I bought a Mossberg Patriot Bantam in .308. Put an ugly Vortex 4-TooMuch scope on it, downloaded some 125gr fodder to ~2600fps, and filled the...
I like those simplex locks for reliable "temporary" storage. I've always had good luck with them. I say "temporary" because unless you change the code , your kids will figure it out. Besides, after a hundred openings a pattern starts to wear into the faceplate if you don't change the code.
The faster you get the heart to stop, the less blood you will have flowing along the silver skin. If you can't get that cleaned out it will sour the meat.
How about a poncho instead? Better for waiting out a storm. Can be used as an emergency over-night shelter. Great for a mid-day nap. The sil-nylon ones don't weigh much. I used to carry a pu-coated nylon one all the time until I picked up one from Golite (before they went out of business).
Despite the toxicity of Permethrin, it is a lousy mosquito repellent. I don't know of any insecticide that is a good repellent for mosquitoes. Permethrin works for ticks because the little buggers die before they can attach - assuming they crawled on your treated clothing.
There are a number of...
Nope. Unless you're talking about hard surface es, what you just wrote is incorrect. I have never seen a WFN "travel sideways", nor a Keith or an Lswc. 18bhn or harder, .355, .430, .452, .460 from a properly fitting barrel.
Deflecting off a hard surface or exiting bone may deform the bullet to...
Please spend some time using it and then give us your thoughts. Lots of folks interested in it. Early reviews were mostly negative, but that was due to bugs that have probably been fixed by now.
Elk that stay in the flats get munched. Elk that stay in the steep survive.
Yes, if you hear howling at night, or barking during the day, you should move elsewhere. Bulls learn to be quiet.
The 454 is a great cartridge, but it is not chambered in a revolver I'd want to pack all day. If someone else carried it for me, I'd definitely go with the 454. But since I have to carry my own stuff, I carry the S&W329pd in 44mag.
S&W M329pd - 31oz loaded. And no, revolvers are not more reliable than autos - but autos don't chamber anything in the league of the 44mag in a 31oz package (G20 is 39oz loaded).
Cut down florescent light bulb cover to protect rod while strapped to pack. Home Depot. I use a 5' two-piece rod rated for a max of 6lb test. A tiny Okuma reel with 2 spools of 4lb test. Maybe $50 invested total.
I didn't mean to brush it off - it is important. What I was trying to convey was the inaccurate reporting that two Spots failed - when one user didn't have an active subscription (supposed to check this stuff before heading out).
I would love to get more info on the failure. In fact, I'm tempted...
