As many have said, altitude will be your downfall. Think about laying in your tent for 3 days sicker than a dog and not getting better after hiking in 4 miles at 10K ft. If you were truck camping you could go get a motel in town for a day or two.
My hunting partner and I borrow his brother in...
I have never dropped my pack while hunting unless of course when sitting etc. Have no problem shooting with a pack on, but the pack I carry is not capable of packing meat with the exception of a boned out antelope. I use the Badlands Diablo and it carries everything that I need.
Clamp the rifle in a gun vise, loosen the set screw on the tool, set it on the barrel in front of the scope and snug the larger "v" on the objective bell of the scope, tighten the set screw. Then level the rifle in the gun vise using the bubble level on the tool and then look through the scope...
I use this when mounting scopes, is quick easy to use and works great. https://www.neconos.com/item/EXD-Vertical-Reticle-Instrument-for-accurate-reticle-bore-alignment-140
Had a co-worker that had issues with Flickers on his log sided home, he did exactly that and painted it a light yellow/tan color and no more bird issues.
I'd also be checking for insect infestation. The birds are usually there for a reason. Now when they are rattling away at a metal light pole or tin vent that is to tell everybody else that they are there and that is their territory.
I'd mark the 3 cases with a sharpie, but otherwise wouldn't worry too much. If you cut half the length of the neck off, may have issues, but should be fine. Only really run into issues if the case is too long and not allowing the neck to release the bullet due to it being jammed.
Our 25th Anniversary is in September the day after my wife's birthday. Her son asked me the other day if I had thought about doing anything for her 75th birthday. She doesn't like to celebrate birthdays at all and hates me spending money on roses, "they just die":) I told him that what she...
I've got the Mini 6 ARC HB in a Stockys VG and had to open up the barrel channel and then bedded front and back. The sporter profile would fit the Stockys VG just fine. Also have the Mini in 223 that I had rechambered to 223AI and it is in a Stockys Hunter CF second. Modified the mag on the...
I started to shy away from highly fragmenting bullets well over 40 years ago. The 130 gr Core-loc in a 270 at close range would essentially destroy a shoulder on a mule deer. The slower 150 gr bullets did not do nearly as much damage. When you live in a state where you can harvest 1 deer and...
Might find a boutique company that loads Hammers, but don't know of any offhand.
Did you try cleaning real good to bare metal and then retry the factory loads you have at hand?
Think the reasoning behind the cleaning between jacketed and monos is due to jacketed bullets will compress to a degree to accomodate the rifling and the monos do not, the copper has to flow. I would definitely try cleaning thoroughly. One of those should shoot good in your rifle.
