You will notice! It's almost half a pound! I don't save weight for useful accessories and gear that gives me an advantage while hunting within common sense, but i don't have reasons to predict a practical advantage with steel rings and bases in this case (low recoiling caliber, not horrendously...
Because this way i save some weight, with the recoil of a 308 and a not incredibly heavy scope on the rifle aluminum will be good to go. The rifle is for hunting and setup like it is now it will weight around 10 pounds, with a bipod, sling etc. For me this is the ideal weight for a hunting...
That's crazy talley is still on the market and is also reccomended by some custom rifle producers! Inhave heard of their unimounts breaking though. That's the price for the ultralight weights most hunters look for nowadays
Pfncourse there is no need to argue my friend, on the contrary i...
Ahah i will repeat again. I DO NOT have talley rings, just the 2 piece bases. Rings are very light and in the some areas i can see them breaking. Not a 2 inch rail with two holes in it
On the fact that he is knowledgeable i have never had a single doubt. He designs rifles and build them, so..
I also understand why manufacturers are cautious about the recommended torque values (for the reason you said but also because that torque is generally more thsn enough to mek the setup...
I have never heard any complaint on talley 2 piece bases.. they are just two small pieces of rail made of 7075 aluminum, I don't see many week points in that!
On the rest i agree 100%
Oh trust me, i know very well doing what i do as a job 😂
Anyway i wouldn't call this guy a idiot but often in the gun industry, where there are no scientific randomized trials to assess these relatively small concerns, people tend to do what they think is ok and, when someone is too full of...
Of course this is the same thing that goes through my mind when i hear these kind of things but he is a precision rifle manufacturer. Good precision rifles, winning european precision shooting (i am not gonna go into more details) championships regularly.
Anyway maybe it's better to just make...
My other rifle shoots like this. This one shoots good, too. I didn't even tried this new one properly before putting the stock actually. Just a single range session to make sure it works well
I brought my rifle for bedding to a reputate gunsmith here in my country (he is a top tier precision shooter, he won several international competitions with rifles made by his gunshop), he also produces some competition precision rifles and I can see he is a very nice guy, really passionate...
Thanks for answering the original questions. That's interesting. Lot of different and contrasting opinions here. I thought this subject was much easier to cope with!
That was not a half MOA gun/ammo combo. Or maybe conditions changed slightly/the barrel got hot/the shooter made an error. If I say my rifle is half MOA, it's because i have made extensive testing with it and i know that gun very well. If you were thinking that was a half moa gun after the first...
