Something I can help with! :)
I own 4 of the Credo 3-9X40 Mil Square scopes and 1 of the Accupoint 5-20X50 Mil Dot scopes.
The Accupoint scopes are made in Wixom MI out of parts that Trijicon sources from different companies. I have also read that they get glass from Meopta but I don't know...
So not a lot of top cover making is shady?
Love the mountain in the background. My company has a test site somewhere around Hilo. I haven't had the opportunity to go yet. I have heard it is very beautiful there though.
This isn't scientific but it is math.
This.
While this isn't scientific, it is math. :)
I have a Credo 3-9X40 that has .05 Mil reticle at 9X. It is visible, but just barely as it gets dark on mottled backgrounds. I personally have to turn on the illumination around 4-5 min before the end...
What part of the country and time of the day? If you don't mind me asking.
Southeastern pine/cedar thicket in the early morning is noticeably different to me than a hardwood covered ridge in the early afternoon for reticle visibility. :)
2 different places I hunt, both that I would call thick...
To further add, as if I haven't written enough.
My plan was to get the .22 outfitted and use it to learn to read the wind and do dialing/wind holds and have whatever I learned from that carry over directly to using the big game and varmint rifles.
That is my primary focus on getting the same...
The 15% is shooting at 400 yards at the semi-local TWRA range and in the field on the farm when it is cut. I usually just walk the shots in and don't dial or use holdovers. I want to start trying to dial/use holdovers.
The biggest part of my hunting is actually with a shotgun wing shooting...
I have read A LOT about FFP scopes and their benefits. I have only ever used SFP scopes.
I think I would like to have FFP scopes on my rifles.
-Tikka T1X 20" bbl .22 LR -Targets, squirrels, muskrats and other nuisance critters- (Credo 3-9X40 now)
-Tikka T3X .223 -Walking...
I have one of the Credo 2.5-15 as well and I find the reticle hard to see without the illumination in shadows/mottled backgrounds. (I have it on a varmint rifle because of that)
If you don't have trouble with it, the Credo Mil-Square reticle on the 3-9 will really stand out for you. :)
Since...
I mentioned this in another thread but I wanted to see if others have similar observations or if it was just my eyesight.
I have noted that for similarly dimensioned reticles. I find it MUCH easier to see a .05 Mil wire reticle versus a .05 Mil etched reticle. The wire reticle always has...
I have a larger (5-20) Mil-dot Accupoint and several of the Credo 3-9.
The biggest difference, other than the source of illumination, is the reticle construction. The Credo's all have etched reticles and the Accupoint has a physical wire reticle (due to the fiberoptic).
Personally, I find the...
I really appreciate the answers. I have been debating between the Maven and the Bushnell LRHS G2H from GAP and I have heard about issues with the Bushnell LRHS brass on a lower mount.
I was already leaning towards the Maven but I think this clinches it.
Thanks!!
Any issues with low/medium mounting on Tikka actions and having ejected brass bounce off the windage and foul the action?
I know there have been some issues with other scopes that have longer windage knobs.
I can see it in the forum and on my kindle in the article, but not my work laptop.
Not sure why. My guess would be it is something with when you edited it and the file extension you used and Microsoft Windows not liking it for some reason.
I do appreciate you putting it on the forum...
Great review. I can't see the reticle diagram though in the review. Looks like a file extension not supported type error on the publisher side. Might be something with my PC, but all the other pictures came through fine.
Really appreciate you taking the time to do this,
I saw your pictures but I wasn't sure if the graduations on the reticle were visible at 6x or not. The pics were a wee bit fuzzy. ;)
I would love to see some pictures taken in natural surroundings. Several scopes that I have bought based on pictures with a nice clean wall on the background...
Anyone have any pictures they could share of the Maven and/or the Bushnell LRHS 4.5-18 G2H reticle at 6X 'ish?
I tend to stay right around 6x most of the time in my shooting except when sighting in. Several of the FFP scopes that I have tried were very difficult to see the reticle/use the...
Did anyone ever get the reticle dimensions from Maven?
Particularly the thickness of the main crosshairs? .07 would be ideal to me, I think.
I have tried FFP scopes with .05, .06 and .08 thick stadia.
The .05 was very difficult to see at less than 8-9X on natural backgrounds in lower light...
So I went with DNZ rings. They fit both the T1 and the T3, same height on all my scopes. They aren't pretty but I am more worried about eye position being the same between them than the looks so I don't mind.
I went with Med height.
