Also forgot to add. Take good notes, as soon as you get home from a trip. What worked, what didn't, what is worthless, what is invaluable. Don't wait. After a few trips you will know exactly what you need.
The cot will actually make you colder. An inch of cold air under you is no bueno, especially in late season. I run a klymit v Luxe. Never been cold in it well below zero. I am a side sleeper and can get decent sleep with it. Down booties (I like feathered friends) work for light camp shoes...
ABV is the name of the game. Accuracy by volume. Wheel guns can work with surgeon hands and 500 pounds of mass running 30mph at ya. The 329 is sweet but a hard pass for shootabity in a charge situation. Glock 20, 15+1 of hardcast, if you are still in a bind, it wasn't your day. A 12 gauge...
Wow I thought I have seen it all. The elk calling police in the woods. Only the interwebz can bring this kind of outstanding entertainment. I have heard all kind of calling in the woods. The worst bugle I ever heard was from some "jackass" novice, most likely Texan. We sat there and...
Our service men and women deserve better leadership. An empty suit is no match for terrorists who do not value life. They are savages plain and simple. When you make "deals" with any type of Muslim extremists, bad things happen. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families. What a...
I ran mine for three years. Great until they get wet. Then they are crazy heavy. Never could keep them dry not matter what I did. Dry conditions they work great. More flex than the Tibet but still are fairly stiff for packouts. Going to run Crispis now.
Former CFII here. I don't instruct anymore but do fly airplanes for a living. I am a little on the old school here and recommend finding some good books for studying ground. That way you can take notes, mark it up and become better familiar with the material. We have all our manuals on an...
Any thoughts on the two boots? I have tried in the Idaho and liked them. Was wondering if the Briksdal would be worth a look? Will be for chasing elk and muleys in CO. Thanks in advance. I am moving from the Lowa Camino. Like the boot but looking for more ankle support and lighter boot.
Not familiar with the LP stuff. In my shop I did 2" closed cell under roof and gables. Walls are r19 batt. With no heat it rarely gets below 35 degrees or above 70 in the shop. I live at 7900' in Colorado. If I need a little heat, I crank up the propane torpedo and it is 50 in 15 minutes...
Unsolicited advice. Be careful airing dirty laundry in a forum, especially a hunting one. All my gear looks pretty for about one trip. Then it gets put to the test. I don't care about pretty looking things. The real fact is "alpha" glass won't make you successful no matter how much you...
I hear you. My family and I are coming up from Colorado again this year. Yet another government overreach in my opinion. The permit makes for a huge pain in the ass! Unfortunately it is the price you pay for living in a beautiful place. I live in Evergreen, CO. During the summer I can't go...
I have used the Blue Ox and have had no problems. It definitely helps on windy days. If you are not going to be in the mountains the Ford should do well for you. As said above, be familiar with payload weights. That weight is usually exceeded before max tow weight. Most people could care...
