No issues for me. I started using it after I got covered by chigger bites in west central Illinois one year for the squirrel opener August 1. Spent a month in bed covered in calamine lotion after that. Sawyers has kept the chiggers and ticks off me since then.
If a shotgun doesn’t fit you and point where you look when you mount the gun, everything else about the gun is meaningless. You’ll be better off in the long run to send it down the road then to try and shoot well with a gun that doesn’t fit.
Well I drew. Anybody else get lucky? Also, deadline to apply was January 26 and they ran draw and had results emailed out by January 31. I reckon it might be the quickest preference point draw results turnaround in the nation. I wish Western states were that quick.
Anybody else put in for the Iowa non-resident spring turkey draw for 2020? This was my first year so I have zero preference points. I put in for zone 4 season 4 so who knows if I’ll draw. Figured it would be a good way to scout areas I’d likely deer hunt when I draw a deer tag in a few more years.
Great looking bear. How many points did you have to draw zone A? I have 3 points as a nonresident and will likely try to draw zone D in a few more years. I don’t think I’m gonna hold out for zone B even though I grouse hunt up there and love it, just too many points to draw it. It’ll be...
Did another venison heart tonight for Christmas dinner. Same preparation as above. It came out spectacular. My folks were a little leary at first but after a few bites, there were no leftovers. Paired with a good bottle of Spanish red wine from priorat. Merry Christmas to all.
Danner pronghorns leak like a sieve in my experience. I’ve been real happy with a pair of asolo hunter GV boots I bought on Sierra trading post for $200. I broke them in all summer and they performed well on a 9 day mule deer hunt in Utah this october.
I did one the other day that came out awesome. Trim off all the cartilage and blood, clean thoroughly with cold water, slice into 4 even pieces, season with fresh ground black pepper and garlic salt on both sides. Get a cast iron pan smoking hot and toss in a tablespoon of butter, cook each side...
Great Illinois buck. Congrats. I could only find a nice fat doe opening day of gun season on the public I hunt in west central Illinois but she filled the freezer nicely. Saw some studs studs on the same piece during bow season but nothing in range.
I’ve had my filson a lot of years and it’ll probably last the rest of my life. Not for warm weather though.

I can’t wait. Headed down to west central Illinois tomorrow for the weekend to hunt public land. Killed a buck I was really happy with last year and hoping to repeat my success this year. I’ve been looking forward to these next few weeks all year.
