They need to sell that pop up 40 lid for the metcalf. The double pocket lid they use is horrible. It doesn’t stay on top of the pack and slides down to be more like an attachment than a lid.
It’s tough for me, because I personally do enjoy watching hunting videos through various sources. I loved watching the outdoor channel and stuff when I was a kid and now YouTube has many options.
With that being said it has also led to a giant increase in tag demand. I personally think...
Those units have some VERY rugged terrain. My only recommendation would be if you aren’t well versed in the mountains I wouldn’t venture far from a trail. The blowdown is THICK and it will take you double if not triple the time to get somewhere than you think it will.
Right around 22ish pounds in the pack. Weapon and bino harness not included in that. 1-1.5 lbs of food per day extra and probably 6lbs in water on top for around 3L. 5 days would put me right around 35lbs. That goes up if it’s going to be a rougher weather forecast.
Ya it’s weird. No clue man. It’s just strange that I’ve seen so many posts with Crispi boots and never a mention of that issue and you have it on two boots in the same exact spot.
I have plenty of days across multiple states in my Thors and never had that issue. It’s also very strange that you have two different boots doing the exact same thing. Based on the wear spot it almost looks like when you walk you maybe roll your foot; like you land on your heel and roll your...
None of the frames you listed will provide you with a universal figment of bags unless you’re planning on just literally attaching them with paracord or something. Also MR no longer makes either the NICE or original Guidelite frames so those would have to be found used. Of what you listed for...
For that long of a time with that far of a drive to town I’d get a 12v cooler. Run it off a large battery bank with solar panels. Might be too late to get that going now but that would have you set with relatively fresh food the entire trip.
Somewhere around 9/11ish and I have the rest of the month off. Don’t know that I’ll stay the whole time. If I need a break I might go catch a Rockies game and knock it off the ballpark list lol.
I use this one as well. Not bad. Gotta run it slightly deflated. I like putting my puffy in the cover above the bladder and then filling it up and it’s way more comfy like that. Wish I had time to get one of these goose gear covers before the season but I had never heard of them before this thread.
I’m curious to know if people who recommend Klymit have ever used anything else…they’re ok for what they are; a budget pad. They are thin, not all that warm, and barely more comfortable than sleeping on concrete.
I guess I do agree with both of you guys. Just with how and where I grew up hunting, that is what I think when someone says whitetails. If I was trekking across the country to go hunt in the mountains, it would be for something other than a whitetail.
Since this is specifically about whitetail…anything other than the midwest for a big, mature buck is a wrong answer lol. Some states or areas may have bigger deer, but the Midwest has them everywhere. Any public land timber that butts up to some agg fields on a corn year=$$$$$$
Man I literally learned how to hunt in Shawnee National Forest down there. I know a bunch of those woods like the back of my hand. Killed my first deer in a wooden stand my dad built in the 80s.
