Found a good deal through Sportsman's Warehouse for the Trijicon Tenmile HX 3-18x44 First Focal Plane. $1350 with free shipping.
Seems like a good deal and the scope has received great reviews....so I pulled the trigger on it. Nice thing about the scope....while I am planning on putting a...
Thanks. I have a Trijicon Accupoint 3-9 on my hunting AR (300 HAM'R) and really like it. How smooth is the magnification adjustment on the HX? If there is one thing I hate, it is a hard to turn scope.
Does the elevation knob lock at all? If not, are the detents for the adjustment just stiff enough to keep it from moving? How well does it stay zero when hiking, etc. Would you say this scope is worthy to be put on a high end rifle instead of say a Zeiss?
Thanks
Everyone likes when their buddy gets a new gun...even more so when he is building. This will be my first prefit build. Hoping the collective can provide some feedback and I will provide updates along the way through first hunt fall of 2023.
So far, this is where I am leaning:
280 Ackley...
I have started looking at this....I don't like how a lot of the actions don't have any coating or finish on them.
Any thoughts on the Terminus Kratos Lite for a 7mm mag? Proof barrel, triggertech diamond, and Manners MCS - LRH.
Who makes the best bottom metal?
Do we have any idea if Nosler is going to release an update to their mountain carbon rifle with the Model 21 action? It appears this is just a PRC issue and although it took a bit, has been resolved. I like their rifles, but the Model 48 is old and the stock looks pretty dull compared to other...
If I don't want to build myself and wanted a carbon barrel....what would be your top suggestions for a 280AI from a "semi custom" provider?
I really like the Weatherby's, but they don't offer 280AI with a carbon barrel
I am a CO resident…if the hunt quality was the same, I would happily pay what I have for NM, WY and UT tags the mast four years.
No reason resident tags shouldn’t be $185 or more and sell way less tags…get rid of OTC once and for all and move to 80/20 allocation between residents/non-residents.
I just ordered the Sky Archer 6400. Excited to give it a try as I have needed a new pack for a long time. Will be interesting to see if I can still keep it relatively light. My old pack was 4,030 cu in and held all my gear just find for multi day trips.
Lots of great suggestions here. As you can tell, gotta probably try some. If you don't have the ability to do that, go to archery talk and pick up a used one to try out.
When I was searching at the beginning of last season, I settled on the Stan SX3 (three finger) Not one that you can try...
Then I have to buy a heat gun! More junk in the garage. The discoloring would probably go away if I cleaned them first. It is just the machine oil and carbon from the fire. I don’t even get them that hot really. It was more sarcasm :-)
Nothing for our group in WY. I was hoping since the other guys have not drawn anything else, however, I drew my Utah tag, so happy to get the money back!
Was just thinking about this today as I ordered more components for a new dozen arrows for the season after breaking two from last season in the last couple days. I am running the same arrow and components that I ran last year and I personally have been super happy with them.
Black Eagle...
Exactly Orion.
Still Hunter...I understand what you are saying, however, I am a Colorado resident living in the mountains, so I understand. Last night I had mule deer in my yard and drove past 30 head of elk (that will be ghost come the season).
My problem is almost 100% related to OTC and...
If you double the price, you can sell half as many tags and make the same amount of money. This will improve the quality of the experience and provide better value for the hunters.
Obviously, it does no good to just double the price and try to sell the same number of tags.
I mean seriously...name a non-coastal western state you wouldn’t rather have a tag in them CO? Especially OTC. It is bottom of the barrel for elk.
Resident tags should be $350...MINIMUM. Less hunters show up...within 5 years people will be begging to pay it. Make non-res tags $1250. CO has...
Really need eastern whitetail to become a thing and CO to double the price of non-res tags and follow the allocation laws that are on the books.
I live in CO and do everything I possibly can to hunt elk in Amy other state possible. CO is literally the worst tag option and I drive past elk...
