An outfitter should know the drill up there, and be able to navigate just fine. IMO, there is plenty of cover in most areas. It's a mix of PJ with some pines for good measure. I saw several bucks, but closing the distance was the hard part. The issue was mostly the crunch of the snow last...
I can help you, I've hunted it a few times.
-Mud! If the temps are cold, the roads stay frozen. If it warms up during the day, it'll be a mudfest which can really limit the areas you can drive to.
- Cold! It can be REALLY cold at night. My SXS wouldn't start until mid-afternoon last trip as it...
A couple other thoughts came to mind.
- The Leupold CDS scopes come with one included cap. They charge $80 for additional caps. That seems really expensive given what it is. I think they used to be ~$25 iirc. With that said, it's a nice solution. There are aftermarket caps for some scopes...
A buddy and I were talking about this a couple weeks ago. I own two VX3i's and three VX5HD's, all with CDS. I also have some other older Leupold scopes that have been rock solid (they don't dial). I find the glass to be excellent for my purposes. I don't dial a lot like some guys here, and...
Exactly! LO tags should be ranch only IMO. I'd also like to see a lot of those tags pulled back into the public draw. The issue of access to public lands needs to be addressed. When a LO chooses unit wide, they also sign up to allow hunters on their private land. I've seen shady ranchers...
I custom ordered two leather couch's and an ottoman a few years ago that are super comfy and very high quality. I highly recommend Omnia if you're looking for leather. They are made in the USA. I see recliners on their webpage but have not experience with those.

Thanks for the info on the warranty!
There is a warranty card is in the box with the other paperwork. Was this the only way to register these, or could it have been done online? Regardless, she estimates that she bought these about 5 years ago from a close mutual friend of ours when he...
I don't know if the warranty was ever registered as these belong to my GF. Any idea on how to check to see if they've been registered? Maybe I can call Leica directly and ask?
Personal experience is much more value than a manufacturers commercial for sure. I've been thinking about this a lot as I own several VX5HD scopes and really like them, but haven't done much dialing with them. In all their testing (recoil, water, temperatures), I didn't see any mention of...
Not a trigger failure, but I've seen two FTF for others. Both (Rem 700 and CVA Paramount) had to do with the bolt not being COMPLETELY down. I personally hate how the bolt can be lifted on some rifles when in the safe position.
Yep, sure do. Used a VX5HD on an UML last year. My son (13) dropped his bull in his tracks at 249 yds by dialing.
I shot paper with it at 400 yds by dialing, again works great. Need a good load to get the velocity to use at distance. Mine has a very effective muzzle brake.
I'm used a quilt over a down bag and the issue I had was keeping the quilt in place. If you tend to roll and turn while sleeping, you may have a similar problem. I don't like a fleece bag liner as much, but it stays in place and is effective.
What are you sleeping on? I've found that...
It appears that the VX3i is only available with the ZL (1 turn, 14.5 MOA of elevation). The ZL2 (2 turns) is on the VX5 and VX6 models.
No zero lock was my biggest complaint with the VX3i, and that's been fixed now.
Not sure of the exact differences in the scopes you listed. A couple comments though. I have two VX3i that are a couple years old and have noticed that the new VX3i CDS models have a zero lock (new this year I think). The older ones had a zero stop with the custom CDS caps, but the MOA cap...
SOLD locally!
PRICE Lowered!!! Great glass need a new home!
Leica GEOVID 15x56 HD-R BRF-Y Binos. These are the HD version as marked on the left eyepiece. Image quality is top notch! Focus knob is super smooth and rangefinder works as expected (Leica quality). One of the front lenses has a...
Wow, thank you for that! Excellent info. I look forward to seeing some data when life gets more back to normal. I'm really curious what the differences are both in design and performance from Leupold to other brands. I love the glass, but if it's not reliable or function properly, it's...
Interesting about the published weight difference. In hand the BX-4's feel lighter, perhaps it's the shape. I weighed them back to back (didn't move the scale, turn it off, etc). Thinking more about this, the Leupold's had the lens covers on and the Swaro's did not, maybe that's worth a...
I just received some BX-4s the other day in 10x42. I pulled out my SLC 10x42 to compare side by side. Physically, they are nearly identical in length/width/height. The BX4's weighed 1.5 ounces less on my scale. Optically they are awesome, and the focus wheel is smoother than the Swaro's...
