    What to build, volume/hunter?

Hell, if you're good with that weight, I'd say get a 6.5mm sendero (or one of the palmas) steel barrel, throw it in a chassis of your choosing and go to town. I did a very similar thing with the goal of making a bench-and-blind-only rifle in 6.5CM with a leftover 700 action, Bartlein medium...

    Best 10mm models

I'll second this, G40 Glock is best Glock. My revolvers stay in the safe now when I go hunting.

Handgun to carry while rifle hunting Alaska

Nothing says you have to top the magazine off! I rarely put more than 10 rounds in mine.

Handgun to carry while rifle hunting Alaska

I think that's a trip down the rabbit hole of diminishing returns, and potentially not a desirable one from a slide velocity standpoint if you're going to be using stout loads

Handgun to carry while rifle hunting Alaska

I was bitten by the 10mm bug but I went with the Glock 40 MOS instead of the 20SF. Got it with the intention of putting a small red dot on top (and did for a while), but I really enjoy shooting a handgun with a properly long sight radius, so I took it back off after a while. I love wheel guns...

Looking at a new Bergara 6.5 creedmoor

Nothing wrong with threading a 6.5mm bore barrel with 1/2-28 threads, then you only need a .600" diameter for a proper shoulder. As heavy as everything Bergara makes is, I'm betting they all have at least that at the muzzle. If you're willing to look outside that brand, the Browning X-bolt HC...

    Christensen Ridgeline

If I may briefly derail this thread, how do you like it? I keep coming back to the SL in 6.5 as about as good as it gets for a deer/hog/aoudad rifle without cracking $1,000. Unfortunately I'm not in the land of Sportsman's Warehouse, but I've got a Cabelas gift card to help take the edge off...

30-06 donner action what to build

If I had a standard boltface, long action laying around it would most certainly be made into a .280 Ackley

    Truck Gun

Have a drink of the creedmoor kool-aid, it's not bad!

    Truck Gun

Enjoying this thread, been on a similar hunt for a beater myself. Have a TC Icon in .308 that has an absolutely gorgeous walnut stock that I can't bring myself to throw in the back of a UTV sans case, and a 6.5cm 700/XLR Element build that I'm less cosmetically attached to, but it has a truck...

    Half-day Pack Recommendations

Much as I'd love to add a proper frame pack to my gear closet at the moment, what I really need to replace is the backpack I've been using for archery elk hunting (usually out of treestands) in Colorado. It's typically a early-ish season guided hunt, so I'm not toting a ton of stuff around...

    Checking in from SE Texas

By all means, hijack away! Work has made my schedule not very much mine lately, but once that quiets down I'm game for some range time. Been wanting to try the long ranges at ARC.

Cabela's Meindl Perfekt Hunter Boot being Discontinued

Just two more weeks! Then I can blow my paycheck on the guns they don't want me looking at. That seems like the best recourse. Oh yeah, and some Meindls if I can find them when I get back

Cabela's Meindl Perfekt Hunter Boot being Discontinued

Foreign company blocks most everything pertaining to firearms. I'm just glad this and Long Range Hunting haven't been picked off by their webfilter

Cabela's Meindl Perfekt Hunter Boot being Discontinued

Of course I read about this when I'm stuck offshore and the company blocks the Cabelas/Bass Pro websites!

Does Danner make a stiff soled mountain boot?

Curious to hear what you find. I love Danner's workboots more than anything else I've tried and would love to pick up a pair for archery season next year

In that case, howdy neighbor! Well for now at least, we're headed up to Tomball in a few months

    Checking in from SE Texas

Well, actually offshore off the coast of Israel for work right now, but we're down on weather, so I got some time to kill! Longtime interest in hunting and long range shooting/reloading, and recently got the chance to do some bowhunting for elk in Colorado. Been lurking here for a while...
