    Scope rings for Tikka t3x

Sportsmatch TO84s with a Zeiss v4 4-16x44 on my 6.5 cm Superlite Unless you need some baked-in elevation, I don't see any reason to put on a pic rail or mount that relies on screws when you have a machined-in rail in the receiver already.

    Bighorn Origin Suitability for 300WM

I reached out to Zematt to see what the options were and the response was that if you want a hinged floorplate and need more than 3.650" COAL, the only option was to upgrade to the SR3 action. I had my mind made up to use a Kelbly Atlas instead, but came across a deal on a Seekins Havak that...

Experience with the Athlon Ares BTR Gen 2 4.5-27?

I'd certainly love to hear your thoughts on it since its the logical price point alternative. I wouldn't mind stepping up to a 34mm tube if the higher mag ETR wasn't so damn heavy.

Experience with the Athlon Ares BTR Gen 2 4.5-27?

Thanks for the feedback! Is this the scope you're referring to from cameraland? ETA: Dang, came across one of Doug's posts on the Hide about the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale from last year they had on Athlon optics, Ares BTR 4.5-27x50 for $765 and Cronus BTR 4.5-29x56 for $1,144. Shame I...

Experience with the Athlon Ares BTR Gen 2 4.5-27?

Didn't get too many responses on LRH, so figure I'll try here as well. Currently awaiting the arrival of a .300 wm Havak PH2 that was too good a deal to pass up, and while my initial thought was to save a little and repurpose an older 6-24x50 gen 1 Viper PST that I have in the safe, it's not a...

    Bighorn Origin Suitability for 300WM

Had originally intended to pick up a Kelbly Atlas Tac or Defiance Tenacity for a future .300 win mag BDL build (both offer wyatt's mag box cuts from the factory), but I've stumbled across a long action mag face Origin for a very agreeable price. Find myself tempted by saving some, both on the...

    Howa Builds

I'm patiently waiting for the .300 blk barreled miniaction to reappear at Brownells (can't find any other sellers), have it trimmed back and dropped in a JTAC chassis. Throw whatever leftover scope is closest to the safe door and have a knockaround ranch gun for sub-200 yard hog shots.

Carbon six and AG composite back country rifle build

Have had an interesting time getting my endorsement so far, had two lessons in a Citabria before the club sold it, and one in a J3 before the owner put it into a ditch next to the short runway at Hooks the following day. Someday I'll finish it...

Carbon six and AG composite back country rifle build

May give that a try, got an XLR Element and a stock short action I've been toying with the idea of making a 6 Creed out of for the kids to learn on, since I can shorten up the LOP so much. Gotta ask with a username like that, J3 or PA-18?

Carbon six and AG composite back country rifle build

Wondered about this, since McGowen offers shouldered R700 prefits as well. Interesting, considering we hear so much about how awful Rem's tolerances are. Not that I'd build a benchrest gun off one, but that would imply the lion's share are tight enough to make it between a go and a no-go gauge.

    Steel/alloy toe boots

A little sidetrack from the usual variety of boots discussed here, but has anyone had some safety toe boots they've had good results with? Currently in a pair of 8" Danner Vicious NMTs, and while they fit me like a glove (like damn near everything else of theirs I've tried), the thick ceramic...

    Favorite Bourbon Opinions

Switched from Maker's to Larceny for cocktails (mainly old fashioneds). Definitely started as a financial call due to quarantine consumption rates, but I like it well enough I don't know that I'd go back.

Not sure if it's still the case, but SW had put a hold on shipment to external FFLs last time I checked.

Preferred shotgun for clays, doves, pheasants, ducks, and geese

Previously had an 1100, now shooting a Browning Maxus (both in 12 gauge) and it has been a great shotgun, although it did have to go back to Browning for the duratouch stock warranty replacement. That said, if I were asked to replace it today, I'd probably go with a Benelli M2.

    Midway USA Review

I too have had stuff from them waaaaay underpacked with items missing from the giant openings in the box that resulted. That said, they have always made it right when I contacted CS.

Best bang for your buck deer hunting riffle under 1k

Forgot to include the TC Compass as well, $350 retail, no need to buy bases, and has a better barrel than a gun that price has any right to have.
