Arrow flight, penetration is key.
Great arrow flight is result of well-tuned bow and a shooter's consistent form.
Penetration is a result of KE/kinetic energy, especially downrange 50+ yards.
With that said, my draw 29.5"/70-lbs and standard hunting arrow:
Victory RIP TKO Elite, 30"C2C, Iron...
65yo, been saddle hunting for past 5 years.
Used various treestands for past 25 years, all LWolf brand. Fixed Alpha (3) with LW climbing sticks modified, Assault Hand climber modified too.
Use the Kestrel Lite saddle from the Oregon company. It's great.
For getting up in the tree, I use a combo...
I use a SpotHoggFather with 2-pin sight housing. With my aging eyesight, trying to keep larger sight picture.
When hunting, 1st pin always at 30, at that position my 2nd pin is 40-yds dead on. The SpottHogg yardage tape is very accurately set up.
Practice the 30yd setting at 15-20-35 yards...
Having a packable, small woodstove can be a real plus. Helps keep the spirits up too when inclement weather sets in and you sit in the tent at night.
I have an Kifaru Tut tent, model discontinued for some time now. Had a custom interior sil-nylon liner made for it. Liner stakes at the tent...
yes, I stand corrected.
My mind must have also been thinking about the Governor, Lt Gov and State Treasurer...all on the same page as the anti's.
Read their Bios here:
https://wdfw.wa.gov/about/commission/members#:~:text=The Washington Fish and Wildlife, each appointed by the governor.
With the WA State game commission primarily filled with non-hunting appointees, that granola group is ok with mass predation, starvation of the mule deer herds. But totally against hunting as a way to manage the resource.
Hell, 8 of 12 members of the game commission are pro-wolf! This is a 66%...
Eastern WA, northern-central areas, were hit hard by past few winters. Major forest fires in the areas didn't help as these burned 75% of the winter range. There just wasn't enough feed for the wintering deer. WDFW doesn't feed deer any longer like they did back in the 1960-1970's bad winters...
Equipment dialed in, it basically comes down to shot placement and knowing one's ability, max range to execute the shot precisely.
Now YOU know...in the hardest way, a lost bull.
My Iron-Will Solid-S have never let me down at 25, 37, 45 yards on bull elk. Usually use 125gr, the last one (37yds)...
ohhh, you are entering the hobby of no return ;)
I use various cameras depending on the hunt scenario, situation. My cams consist of GoPro10,11 & older 5, Sony 6400 w/3 different lens, Canon XA75 camcorder, IP12ProMax, InstaGo2 mini cam, then add accessories like cam mounts, tripods etc...
IronWill Solid Wide 100 & 150gr
My elk bow is tuned with the 150gr.
For mule deer, that bow is tuned for 100gr.
I shoot both Mathews Vertix bows. Bought 2nd one new 2 years ago, at a price that couldn't be turned down.
The follow up report, on the bear autopsy/necropsy, determined the large (366-lbs) male bear was healthy & in excellent condition, no diseases...and was not a "cocaine Bear".
Your Crispi's will be fine, if they fit correctly.
My Crispi Summits have been my fave September-October boot now for past several years.
Heavy, cold, wet, snowy weather, then my Kennetreks Mtn Ext on are my feet.
whats of note in the video is when the woman jounalist reports: "...maybe the bear was protecting it's territory, where the man was building his cabin..."
BS I say, the bear was hungry.
MAVinWA2 here to respond, aka MavHntr/YouTube-Mav's Outdoor Adventures
I'm in my mid-60's now. But back in my 30-40's, I'd be compared to the infamous Aron here, as in that amount of time spent in the outdoors & remote backcountry. Far more than the average working guy.
Even now, retired, I...
the vestibule is a heavier canvas than the tent. It held up great, several times the past couple years. Through winds with 50mph gusts too!
Just need to stake down securely, I use 8 or 10" lag bolts & washers. Best if facing the closed area/back of vestibule into the wind too.
now 21 years for me since my last archery NM elk tag....enough is enough.
F_*_ It,
I'm going anyways...no refund on the general hunting license for past couple years....so coyotes it is. Big, damn cream/yellow colored ones about 600 lbs.
Most of the time, I use the load shelf. The heaviest load of meat is on load shelf, close to my back.
Being able to have the 26" frame fit my body, there is another plus if bagged meat is inside the pack or using load shelf. The 22-Mag pack sits higher on the longer frame, keeps weight up and...
SKB all the way.
AK Airlines damaged my bow case a couple years ago. Badly bent the outside aluminum frame reinforcements. Case partially popped open, could not close it. Then AK Baggage upset as my SKB case caused some damage to their conveyer. Why AK personnel put the case on a conveyer...
