I Have booked two trips through Larry at Premier. He is a super nice guy with lots of knowledge and lots of different hunts to suit most peoples needs. I will be using him again in the future.
Well we are planning on going back to Scotland next summer. I am looking to see if someone has hunted stag in Scotland, and if you could recommend the guide you used? We will be staying just south of Inverness
thanks

Call me a dumb, but I do not know how to post pictures on this site. I have some bags I made in Ranger green cordura from Rockywoods, and I have a jacket my mother-inlaw made me from dark olive nylon I bought from ripstop. send me a pm with your email address and I will send you some photos...
I have a 260 Ackley and it shoots very well. I have shoot a few 1/4" 100 groups and lots of 3/8" groups. I have never found an issue forming the cases, I simply load the 260 case and fire form it that away. I haven't noticed any real difference with accuracy when fire forming. I have shoot a...
I cannot have peanuts either. Sun butter is a great alternative, it is made from sunflower seeds. it is pretty high in fat and calories. It taste very much like peanut butter. Whole foods has the single serving packages.
I am from VA, and the best gear I invested in was good breathable clothes. The first time I hunted out west I used my normal whitetail clothes and almost roasted. The amount of sweat was unreal, and my clothes stayed wet. Be sure to get either merino, or synthetic leave the cotton at home...
I have a buddy that is a Maine resident and he drew this year for the first time. Apparently it is a tough one to draw, it took about 16 years for a resident. I know another resident that is going on 30 years without drawing.
he is super pumped.
I get much me satisfaction from the hunt versus the kill. I am into learning to elk hunt, so I know I will work toward the DIY side of hunting. even the guided hunt was pretty tough hiking, but it was worth every step. I have some pretty decent gear moving toward the diy side of hunts. We...
some places call drop camps semi guided. Most are like you you said.
I am really more interested in a DIY hunt, for several reasons. Mainly the DIY for the reason of doing everything on your own. The issue is the planning and knowing where to get started.
Start with a cheap piece of material and play with each stitch. change the width and length and see what works best.
I followed a youtube video on zipper top bags (pull outs). I bought a couple of yards of ripstop nylon and some zipper. After about 3 I had figured out what changes I needed...
Last year was my first time hunting elk/mule deer in Colorado. I was on a fully guided hunt, and we hunted out of a lodge. it was a very comfortable hunt, 3 meals, hot showers, and tv. I have planned another elk only hunt in SW Colorado for 2018. After that hunt, i will need to look for...
yeah I was thinking the height would be a good thing, and with the pyramid design would be easier to sew up. I am looking for a light weight set up to pack in, so canvas is out of the question. Thanks for the input.
I am considering sewing a floor less shelter for Midwest hunting. I have considered both a pyramid and a typical A-frame style tent design with vestibules at both ends. What do most people find to be more comfortable? This will be for 2-3 men for 5-7 days. Typically archery or early season (...
I just picked up my new Tikka in 300 wsm. Do most people use the clamp on style rings, or add a base and rings? it came with clamp on style rings, but most people say they are junk.
we have had a company come out and fog our yard if we have an event with people coming over. It works really good for about 3 weeks. I think we typically pay about $125 for about 2 acres of coverage. We have a friend that has the same company do their yard once a month during the summer, and...
I have one of Hankins customs 700ml. It is a tack driver. I have shoot many sub 1/2" 100 groups. So far I have just shoot out to 400 yards with good results. I am shooting 275 grain parkers at 2950 fps.
Been reading the post for a while. Went to Colorado for an elk/mule deer hunt last year and really enjoyed the spot and stalk style hunts. In VA we typically stand hunt for white tails. I have another Colorado hunt planned for 2018. Really enjoy reading the stories and experiences of other...
