    Mystery Ranch Pack Fitting Questions

Quick update. I ordered the L/XL belt to give it a try. Ends up the pads are exactly the same as the belt I already had but with longer straps. Now I see why some go with the S/M belts, I could go down to that size and the strap would still be long enough. No reason to buy yet another belt...

    Mystery Ranch Pack Fitting Questions

I did indeed, measured per their website instructions. Being at the very low end (off the recommended range), I'm very surprised. I was concerned it wouldn't tighten enough, but sheesh, given that it has no problem tightening on my son at 30" waist, not sure what the sizing actually means...

    Larry Gougerfield

Had a package take a detour recently via USPS. Guy was shipping me some car parts from Phoenix to Albuquerque. Package went to Nevada, then Washington (Seattle iirc) before it made it here a week and a half late. So much for 2 day priority on that one. Seemed like a black hole (have a few...

    Mystery Ranch Pack Fitting Questions

Thanks for the feedback! I hadn't really thought about the belt stretching, but can see how it might a little as the padding breaks in. My Barney's frame fits about the same, however, the strap across the front doesn't dig in like the MR, not quite sure why. I will have to try a larger belt...

    which chainsaw?

Stihl gas saw here as well, which has been great. If I was only taking it camping for occasional firewood/clearing a tree if across a trail, etc...I'd get a Milwaukee battery saw as I already have several batteries. Have seen too many gas saws that don't start while out camping due to lack of...

    Humbled 1st Timer

"One shot and a whole lotta work!" is the saying I grew up hearing. Hunting and hiking is the easy part, once an animal is on the ground is when the real work begins. Many people don't realize that and think that getting the shot is the hard part...haha! Just quartering and deboning is work...

    Mystery Ranch Pack Fitting Questions

Without being able to try any MR packs on locally, I ordered a Sawtooth 45 in size Large. I'm 6'2" with a 34" waist. I was concerned that the belt would be too big as it's listed as fitting 35"-40" waists. Pack cam Saturday and honestly, I'm underwhelmed and a bit disappointed. The belt...

Truck Breaking Down in the Backcountry

Didn't read all the replies, but have had stuff happen out in the mountains. This year the hydroboost started leaking, but it looked like the transmission (fluid all over the trans lines and it was trans fluid). Luckily we got out and back to town ok without incident. Was concerned we'd loose...

WTB Looking for Rem 700 Magnum action/rifle

Only interested in a Rem 700 action? I have a Sako in 338 Mag, should work for most LA Magnum cartridges I think. It's a complete rifle in excellent condition, may be more than you want...

Back and forth on new rifle caliber.

7RM and 7-08 here as well. I've killed quite a few elk with my 7RM, all one shot kills with a Barnes TSX 160gr except my first with a Remington Corlokt. Zero issue with killing them, furthest one went after being hit was about 10 yds (double lung shot). Plenty of power. Recoil is a bit...

    Air rifle trainer?

Thanks for the feedback! Utah Airguns is one of the places I've considering picking one up from. I should call them and ask about the barrel length. With this style platform, a lot of the barrel is along the frame of the gun, so it seems like the front shouldn't be so long, but... .25 Cal is...

    Water bladder vs bottles

Good point about the tube freezing on bladders, I've had that happen on multiple January hunts/snow shoeing trips. I hadn't considered a bottle on the waist belt, will look into those options. One thing I hate about bottles is not being able to reach them, having to take off the pack, etc...

    Air rifle trainer?

That's the one I am planning on getting as well (FX Impact MkII) in .25 cal. You know much about them? I'm undecided on barrel length for that caliber, could use some input if you have any. 600mm or 700mm?

    Water bladder vs bottles

Been shopping for a new pack, and have a mental hangup I could use some help with. I've been a big fan of hydro bladders in packs, especially for activities like mountain biking. I've just done the same thing with hunting, carry a bladder in the pack and a couple bottled drinks in the side...

    Air rifle trainer?

I have a BSA Lightning XL (.177 caliber) that's been very accurate and deadly for the rabbits eating my grass. I plan on getting a PCP in a larger caliber this Spring. Cost of entry for a PCP is high, but they are neat rifles. Some guys run Nightforce and other high end scopes on the high end...

Anyone in the Portland OR area willing to help out?

Seems like an odd request, but looking for some help in Portland, OR. A seller has a bicycle frame that I'd like, but doesn't want to ship. Anyone willing to grab it for me and ship it my way. It's an old (over 20 yrs) frame that's damaged, so I'm not too worried about how well it's packed...
