    Sausage stuffers.

I just used mine a few weeks ago for the first time, made brats with a black bear. Worked awesome, SOOO much better than the grinder. Found out that the size is great too, don't need a giant one as it's really easy to refill with more meat. Honestly not sure why these things are so expensive...

    ABQ Butcher

I have used Green Valley a couple times early in my hunting career, and that's what drove me to do processing myself. I don't think their quality is very good, and the amount of meat I got back was very low (confirmed by processing several elk myself the last few years). I won't use them...

    Debt help

Some good points made, thank you. This was all hypothetical, and each answer differs, as expected. Good ideas and comments. Personally, there are a few factors at play that would limit my choices. Paying off a house would be nice, but if not planning on staying in said house very long...

    Debt help

Being debt free is well worth the effort. Being cautious and having money in savings should also be a priority, something I'd recommend before paying off debts aggressively. That way, if something comes up, you don't sink. Once savings is sufficient, go nuts paying down debt. Question for...

    Albuquerque Hotels?

Oh, I see. Grant's is a very small town. I haven't stayed in a hotel out there before, but looks like there is a Best Western and Holiday Inn Express at least. That's probably a better option than ABQ. Others are right, Paseo Del Norte and I-40 isn't a terrible area in ABQ.

    Albuquerque Hotels?

Unit 13 is only ~1.5 hrs West of Abq, depends on where you're camping/hunting in that unit. I'd skip ABQ and just head to the mountains directly. You could camp in mountains sooner than an hour from Abq as well if you're willing to set up or sleep in your vehicle (just outside Grant's area)...

Shipping and insurance, learn from my mistake.

I don't understand. No doubt it sucks, and I'm thankful I haven't had this issue yet. Doesn't the math work out like this: Lost package - paid by buyer, including insurance Replacement package - paid by insurance (minus shipping) Lesson is, I believe, include the cost of shipping in the...

Let's talk grazing on public lands...

Living and hunting in NM, I see a lot of this all over the state. This question keeps coming up and I can't seem to answer it, so maybe someone else has a good answer. Why is there so much ranching in these Western states vs the East? With the drought conditions these states have faced year...

    Duramax Dude (or lady) needed

Very true, diesel is less expensive than premium typically. I was under the impression that a lot of these HD gas engines would run fine on regular gas. Of course they all "recommend" premium these days it seems, but I'm not sure it's necessary. As for tons of issues with gassers, some are...

    Duramax Dude (or lady) needed

I have an '06 LBZ, so not exactly the same as the LML's. Others have covered the CP4 issues already. I see someone mentioned head gaskets and studs. I did mine a few months ago. It's a very labor intensive job, and the parts aren't cheap. All told, I had about 56 hours doing mine in a van...

What hunting clothing for my wife?

My GF just researched this and ended up getting Kuiu and really likes the fit. She has a very athletic build. They seem well made with quality material. I personally like my Sitka, so no need to switch for me.

Thoughts on Kuiu Pro vs Mystery Ranch?

The Kuiu bag compresses very well. I'd personally go with the Pro 3600 and compress as necessary. My GF doesn't carry a spotting scope and tripod, and will only use it for day hunts, so the Pro 2300 is plenty big enough for her.

Thoughts on Kuiu Pro vs Mystery Ranch?

I have the MR Sawtooth 45 and recently bought my GF a Kuiu Pro 2300. We have taken a coupe hikes with 44# salt bags side by side. I'm really impressed with the Kuiu. She says it's very comfortable and loves it, even with weight on the back. I really like the bag and pocket layout on the bag...

    WTS/WTT Guns.com

Interesting! Maybe they misjudged what I have, although I sent 6 pics showing condition (like new). Best pricing I've gotten is at Cabela's in the past, they've beat my local gun shops by significant margins. I'll have to head there some day with this one and see what they offer.

    WTS/WTT Guns.com

I haven't heard of this website, so I decided to upload a revolver I've been considering selling to see what the offer would be. In short, the offer was WAY LOW, as in 20-25% of market value. I know they have to make money, but geez, that's crazy. Personally, I won't waste any of my time with...

NM Unit 45 Pecos Wilderness closure

From what I recall, it's common for the closure notifications to state thru Dec-31. They usually reopen once the fire danger drops (i.e. rain). I've seen this multiple times over the years as it affects summer mountain biking in other areas often for at least a few weeks.

Arizona votes to ban trail cameras

I don't hunt AZ, but am curious, are there dates for when cameras can/can't be used, or is it year round? In other words, could a guy use them during the summer and then remove them X weeks before hunting season begins? NM has rules like this for bait. The issue I see is that now when a...

Need help to "true" my chart...or should I bother?

Maybe I did a poor job at explaining it, but I guess I was agreeing with you on #1. Thing is, a 100 yd zero can look great, but you can still have further distances that don't match the curve. For the ranges being discussed here, it comes down to a few basic things...time of flight (affected...

New Mexico Elk Unit 34 Muzzleloader

They've moved the ML hunts back a week or two since you hunted in '14. OP, they'll still be bugling a little, at least the satellite bulls, but the bigger boys will most likely be gone from the herds at that point. The feedback about how they'll respond to calls and bugles is spot on imo...
