    Best reticles

Gen 2 mildot or milquad for hunting/nrl hunter. For prs, you can benefit from a tree, but usually get along without it. I've shot so many rounds in prs that I mostly use the same scope to hunt. I will say, for strictly hunting I much prefer the gen 2 mil dot.

When do you give up on a barrel/trouble shooting

Certain gunsmiths get track records of turning hammers with certain barrel makers. They also get a track record of honesty. Needle on indicator doesn't bounce, barrel doesn't shoot, barrel maker says here's another one and the money for labor to chamber it. I have not had a barrel or any work...

NF SHV 4-14x, Viper PST 3-15x, or Arken EPL-4 4-16x?

Shot vortex scopes(AMG and Razor 3) in lost boys and border wars (PReSque) matches for years. I did very well with them. It was nothing (as in almost every match) to watch the paint marks on stage 1 with freshly painted targets and need a .2 mil zero adjustment. They don't hold zero. The...

    New Sevr Hybrid

Get some dental bands off Amazon. No problem. Seems to be what rocket sold them with originally. I'm still running miniblasters. I will be sad when I run out. I'm not a western hunter, but I would say I see 75% of the whitetails I've shot with the miniblasters die within sight.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

I have used stuff at close range with a 1.0 gyro and it shoots tiny. At long range, I have had stuff fall apart that isn't 1.3 or above. Higher is way better for bc consistency. In very fast cartridges with heavy bullets, you can start popping bullets without riding the edge. For data, I...

When do you give up on a barrel/trouble shooting

Also, as stated above, I wound check every single part of the rifle for torque, put it in a chassis, put a known scope on it, and shoot it with a different muzzle device. If that won't group try no muzzle device. Could be the barrel is a dog, or it could be the muzzle threads. If you have a...

When do you give up on a barrel/trouble shooting

It can be different for different throat geometry and reamer geometry, but I have had the best luck jumping dtacs .035-.040 consistently in several 243AI barrels from Criterion and a couple Bartlein 5R barrels. This includes 2 different reamers.

    16.5” .243 or 6.5CM?

There are powders that will get you a lot more speed than h1000, especially with a short barrel. That said, it is my favorite powder for heavies in 243AI. The barrel life and consistency is crazy good. I also run 26" and 28" barrels and get pretty good speed (about 3150-3225 fps depending on...

    Utah- what the hell?

I don't live in the mountain west and don't know what is going on there specifically. In a lot of areas of the midwest, the middle-class level housing is being gobbled up by investors. No more home ownership, just renting. The big funds have too much $$$$ and control.

7mm Rem Mag vs the new age

^^^THIS. We kill a lot of whitetails with smokeless ML and 350 legends. Every gun has a scope that dials. Everyone shoots 5k+ rounds per year. I hesitate to even disclose the distances on some shots because people think you are lying. You don't need a wizzbang caliber or one hole gun...

    Juiced to the gills ?

There was one in my school too. He was a freak. He moved to the nearest big city to be a standout athlete...which he was. He was also bald at 18 yo when no one else in his family was bald. Maybe just a coincidence???

What caused the Rokslide shift to smallest caliber and cartridges?

I live in what was a shotgun only state. When I started hunting I was the only one that knew how to kill a deer without a deer drive in my group of 20+ people. Deer hit with 20 gauge and 12 gauge slugs also run like they are not hit only to tip over after a bit. It happened with expanding...

What caused the Rokslide shift to smallest caliber and cartridges?

Go read the book Alaska's Wolf Man about Frank Glaser. He really liked the 220 Swift and light bullets. It was WAY before 1984. The concept is not new and it does not require modern match bullets. Heavy for caliber, rapid expansion bullets work better because they have high sd's. You get...

Equipment versus practice posts and Rifle practice/shooting

Even shooting prs with sub 1# triggers, the problem is almost always trigger press, or follow through. If you can press a trigger, you can shoot.

    Precision Cut Archery Paper Recommendations

I messed with it on my bow with the speed and 2 points method. 20 and 60 were on, but I was 3.5 yards off by 100 yards. I got a speed at zero, put in 20 yards and 100 yards and stuck the sight tape on with the bow dialed to 60 yards. Chrono is a light screen style. I use magneto for all the...

Equipment versus practice posts and Rifle practice/shooting

Dryfire will tell you a lot about building positions and breaking triggers. It doesn't matter the position, gun set-up, etc. It does nothing for recoil control, and you have to be careful to follow through or you can develop the bad habits of going to the bolt to soon, etc. I made massive...
