To me the difference is this is more like human cellular trail cams. If you have a group of guys watching every move the animal makes for days if not weeks then texting or calling about the location it just seems like some of the fair chase is diminished.
A buddy and I saw it this winter going quail hunting. We were driving in before dark and he all of the sudden starts yelling to get out of the truck. That was the scariest part, I thought it was on fire by the way he was reacting. He about had an existential crisis but I figured it was something...
You seem like the neighbor op is talking about. You say it's correct so it's correct. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree. If you don't have a house or people behind your target you're good.
I guess it depends on what your plans are. If you're just using it for car camping then you'll be fine. If backpacking then ya I'd say too heavy.
Edit: I didn't catch where you said lightweight. I wouldn't consider 6 lbs lightweight.
I also don't have to deal with grizzlies but if I have to come back I do my best to hang the meat higher than a standing black bear. I guess in your case higher than a grizzly.
Like mentioned above the metal clips slide through the plastic loops on the bottom of the frame. Last time I hauled salt I just left the bottom of the bag attached as you normally would and wedged the load between the bag and frame. Seemed to work just as well as the meat shelf.
