Only outdoor gear I keep in the garage is fishing stuff, tree stands, chairs, coolers, and some other odds and ends.
Camo, bow, boots, packs, tents, quilts, etc. all inside.
You’re going to be doing more than that each day regardless of where you camp. 700’ is not bad at all once you’re in shape. We were doing 1400-2000’ a day in Colorado the first couple years. We aren’t super athletes or anything.
Last year in New Mexico, the biggest elevation change from the...
For the most part, in the 4-5 units I’ve done detailed scouting on, you’re almost never more than 2-3 miles in any direction from a road. Start factoring in ATV trails and it’s less than that.
Only times we considered spiking in was still only 1-2 mile hike but had like 2000’ of elevation.
Mine is three years old and fabric is still 100%. I don’t have the UV issue you have and do keep it garaged. If you’re interested, join the Softopper FB group. I’m sure someone could address your specific concerns.
It’s hard to change the flavor. I pretty much turn all my deer into summer sausage or jerky. Seems like smoke is the only thing that gets rid of the gamey taste for me.
It is not beef and will never be beef. I even took some jerky slices I had marinated for like two days but didn’t have...
I personally would not. If where you hunt didn’t get a ton of rain, I suppose you could make small fires to heat water or get a 1000 ml titanium pot and share with your partner.
The Allen games bags are very cheap and work fine. A couple years ago, I had a deer hanging in those bags and was going for another deer the next day so I went to Walmart and bought a set of white cotton pillow cases, washed them with baking soda, and packed a deer out with them the next day.
Sales numbers aren’t the measure of a good truck otherwise Tundra wouldn’t be a distant fourth. I’ve looked at the 2020-21s. Actually was shopping for one since May, but every time I drive one, I feel like I’d be spending $40-42k for an incremental improvement. Even the TRD Pro I drove today was...
What year were they?
And I get it but I’ve also had two co-workers with newer Dodges that have loud engine ticks already. My FIL’s Sierra has had two or three transmissions, engine, and starter replaced before 150k, and my Tundra front differential was replaced before the 75k extended warranty...
Just for comparison, I went and drove a 2021 TRD Pro that was for sale locally and is probably the closest comparison trim for Toyota. It just didn’t do anything for me. No excitement or new car feel. Felt like a slightly dressed up version of my 2010. It is just not worth $50,000 for me.
Appreciate the input. I have spent a good amount of time on Titan Talk as well as some Chevy and Ford groups and have been active on Tundra Talk for years. What I conclude from those is that Tundra people are fanatics (partially joking, they’re good, helpful people), a lot of Ford and Chevy...
Central Missouri. She only has 137,000 miles.
Mostly a pavement princess but gets to go in the wild and do truck stuff a couple weeks a year. Still cleans up nicely.
Yes. Drove a Titan for the first time Saturday and really really liked it. Actually felt like “damn it’s nice to be in a new truck feeling”. I have a 2010 Tundra, which is mechanically identical to the 2021, but did test drive a 2021 a few months ago. I walked away from that kind of...
