Things you have noticed in the gym

It’s wild how different body types are built for different movements. I’ve never come close to a 405 bench, but I have hit well over 540 on the DL at 185lbs. I also can’t believe people haven’t called out some of the “CrossFit” style shenanigans you see in corporate gyms. I can’t count how...

Trail Access Restrictions - No UTVs = No Horses

I'm not sure exactly, but it sounds like the biggest problem with horses is that the OP doesn't have any.

    Do you feel the edge?

We have an assortment of bums here in my part of like never before. My observation is that there’s a direct correlation between the amount of northerners relocating and opening these “missions” and the number of bums that air and then stay. Makes sense really. I was digging a ditch the other day...

Guys that drive a long ways to hunt, what are your less common(but important) pieces of gear/tools you're sure to keep in the truck?

I try to keep a smattering of hand tools in all my vehicles because I never know when I'll get a work call and it's easier to have 90% of what you need in the truck at all times versus driving back to the shop and grabbing a service rig. So, in addition to what's mentioned above regarding flat...

    HVAC tech broke heat pump

As a business owner I definitely see both sides of it. I’ve had people ask me to put band aids on equipment that should’ve just been replaced and the. They’ll call me a few weeks later when the equipment fails and try to screw me out of the money to replace it for free because obviously since I...

    Vasectomy

I’m about a month out from having it done. The procedure wasn’t painful at all. I had some discomfort that afternoon and the following morning that was easily managed with a Tylenol. Took two days off from work and was pretty much fine after that. The stitches would occasionally snag in my...

    Colorado Elk.

I would recommend looking up the statistics for how many ML tags are actually issued for those units and compare that to the archery tags. That should give you a good feel for any added pressure. My $0.02 is go the whole month of September. Second best option is go when you can.

What music do you listen to?

The new Sturgill album is pretty good.

    Wire size to shop

Holy moly there’s some good and bad advice on here. First, I wouldn’t recommend installing 320’ of conduit without at least one hand hole to pull the wire. Especially if it’s anything other than a straight shot. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend conduit at all due to the cost and the code...

What non-hunting podcasts do you listen to?

The MacArthur study Bible is good for around 90 hours of listening.

    Nissan Xterra

My wife has had an 08 pathfinder since 2010. We are pushing 200k miles on it and the only major issue we’ve ever had is the ecu failed at 80-90k miles and it cost about $1000 to get it replaced at the dealership. I don’t want to jinx it, but it’s probably the most reliable vehicle we’ve ever...

Youtubers ruin public hunting. Change my mind.

YouTube may “get people into hunting”, but the main goal is to expand a consumer base to sell gear to. There’s not a single gear company out there that wants less people buying their stuff.

How to get into diy western hunting

Cheapest thing to do in the long run is move out west.

What if the federal government decided to start selling off swaths off public land?

Local to me, it’s lack of any kind of timber harvesting, controlled burns, etc. Public dove fields go unplanted or halfway planted. Feral pigs destroy other tracts, but DNR won’t allow people to hunt them outside of the hunting seasons for other game and they put forth a fairly poor effort in...

What if the federal government decided to start selling off swaths off public land?

I'd disagree on that first point, but it's just an opinion. Not a hill I'm willing to die on. If it's a race to bottom, there's crappy public land hunting everywhere, lol. I could take you to several places locally and find just the opposite. I hunt a private lease adjacent to a poorly...

What do you do for a living? How can you help?

    Thank you for your service.

What if the federal government decided to start selling off swaths off public land?

There's more to the value of land than the acreage. I'd rather have 10 acres of land with trees, water, and wildlife than 10,000 acres of sand dunes. That's a personal preference though, not an objective measure.

What if the federal government decided to start selling off swaths off public land?

Imagine comparing an acre of USFS land in the upstate of SC to an acre of BLM in the desert of NV, lol. There's tons of public land in the "east", most of it sucks for hunting compared to the private land in the same area because - in my not-so-expert opinion - conservative leaning rural...

    Any Engineers on Here

I worked in engineering then, PM, then went to the field to work tools. Starting to feel like I miss the engineering side of things. If anyone’s hiring in/around the upstate of SC or remote for an electrical engineer - let me know.
