I had the same thought process when I purchased my redcliff as one of my hunting buddies has a cimarron and we figured we could borrow each others if needing to scale up or down. I decided on the redlciff becasue I felt like it would be a little bit easier to backpack in with. I think if you...
Guess I’m an odd duck, I was pretty much indifferent to the gate keepers at first but now I actually prefer them. I like how they can be easily moved to different spots.
As far as the way the SO frames carry, I’ve used all the high end hunting packs with the exception of stone glacier, and a...
No disrespect intended, but as I stated in my original post I believe our minds will fill in the blanks to what we don’t understand and things may become blurred. But at the end of the day mountain lions are not black. Black cats are black jaguars and they simply don’t exist in this part of...
The pic above is a prime example of what I was referring to in my earlier post. When I saw the above pic the first thing that popped in my head was I'd bet a hundred bucks that same pic was shared in a dozen different states except they were each taken by somebody buddy "right down the road"...
I’ve actually used both in my Redcliff. The nest works great if my wife is with me, but if ticks are out and it’s just me and a buddy or whatever I use a bug bivy and leave both doors open and use the shelter more like a regular tarp. Both work well
Just my two cents, but I‘ve read about the way the human mind will fill in the blanks if we see or experience something and we’re not sure what it was. And I totally agree with grfox02, an animal that thrives in extremely open country in the west and 98% of the residence there never see, can...
I’m not much on Gatlinburg, but the Log Cabin Pancake House is worth the hustle and bustle. I’ll second Cades Cove for sure. The hikes will likely be crowded but Chimney tops, Mt LeConte are both good ones. Be sure to check out Clingmans Dome and New Found Gap also!
Interesting thread, lots of perspectives! I would say the San Juan’s are the most rugged I’ve been in overall. But I’ve enjoyed suckfests in several states from Nirth Carolina to Oregon.
