You might be surprised of the light gathering of LPVO's. Since magnification tends to be much lower, the exit pupils are huge. Plus many come with 300 BO BDC reticles which is similar to 8.6 BO trajectory -

I prefer 7x……it’s extremely relaxing and calm when handholding. They still work great when your heart rate is up too from hiking -
Red Dots over 1x scope? Yes or No?
Just remember that prisms don’t have the unlimited eye relief like the red dot and parallex is worse. Red dots tend to be much much lighter as well -
