    Truck stickers

None on any of my vehicles. A buddy of mine's tacoma is COVERED, and it looks great. No clue how he pulled that off. My take, save yourself! Stop reading! Personally, never had the desire to be associated with a particular outdoor brand, even ones I've worked for or was working with at...

    Moving to Montana

Lots of great advice and I'll just add that Butte/Helena are great places to live, highly underappreciated by the newbies moving to MT who choose Bozeman, Missoula, Kalispel. Personally, I'd have zero issues raising kids in Butte and in fact would be a better place than the popular/trendy towns...

    Work trip to Bozeman

Good advice above and I'd add that you can fish Hyalite creek below the dam for fun and small fish and likely few people doing the same. Also Storm Castle creek as it goes into the Gallatin. Nordic is also a good place to eat. Museum of the Rockies if you have time.

Crazy Creek camp chair for glassing?

IMHO, not worth the extra weight and the Crazy Creek hasn't helped in a glassing-specific role for me. A simple glassing pad OTOH weighs way less obviously and covers 90% of what I'm looking for: keeping me bum comfortable during long sits. Many moons ago I knew the Crazy Creek crew in Red...

    2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 FYI

Hell's yeah!! Have owned a total of 5 of the 67-72s, love them and daily drove one for almost 20 years. I have a 2008-2012 series Denali w/230,000 and keep putting money into it because every mechanic I've talked to shows me how the newer ones are a total PIA.

Wondering if there is anyone on here that has retired early (FIRE Movement)

Have really enjoyed reading these posts. Late 50s now and plan is to move to 1/2 time in a few years. I love what I do for work, get to work with great people, exercise creativity, work for good customers. I worked for a few companies in the outdoor industry early in my career, almost zero...

    Door Knocking?

Used to all the time and, if I may say so, was excellent at it. Several times I asked if we could fill doe tags only, used to buy as many as I could, and it was a great way to open the door. After shooting a few, drop back by the ranch house and show them a truck full of dead does. Then a...

well, guess these things are real

Did you take time to check the groinal region to see what sex it was? I've seen a bunch down there and totally get not having the time to take a pic. I can take one in half second if it's a nice fish, buck or bear. But the Squatchs? They put a hex on you, slow your reflexes. Every one I saw...

    Good training hikes Livingston/Bozeman area

Lava Lake and Deer Creek up the Gallatin canyon. Hike the M or Drinking Horse with everyone else! Cottonwood Lake in the Crazies. Fishing just got good in a bunch of places the last week or so, you came at the right time!

Truck camping when its too damn hot!

It is miserable trying to sleep in the heat. 12V fans, as above, make a big difference at low cost. I've never had a topper, but slept in the back of a Subaru a bunch of times. Parking in the shade is a must, can't get cool no matter what when parking in the sun. I liberally use bug spray...

BLM Grazing Lease Holders, Harassment, Misrepresentation

I'm glad you asked because I have answers to everything! It's a burden, not a blessing. They all belong in the top category of "tougher than 99% of the rest of us", but... We need sub categories. "Logger" means what? I dude hiking up mountains with bar chain oil, gas and gear, or a guy who...

BLM Grazing Lease Holders, Harassment, Misrepresentation

Just walk away? Not one person I hunt with after decades of hunting public land across Western states would or has backed down from someone who thinks they're an authority. Zero. I'm the farthest thing from a badass and laughed at two cowboys in two separate incidents, both miles off any...

BLM Grazing Lease Holders, Harassment, Misrepresentation

Some do, along with state land in MT, Forest Service, etc.. Just amazing, but true. I've had several run ins several years ago and they are no fun at all. I think there's a hunter harassment law in Montana. Strongly recommend a hidden game camera near your vehicles and camp and non-stop...

Is a Kowa 553 worth the upgrade over a Nikon ED-50??

I haven't owned both but used a Nikon ED50 for years. IMHO, get the Kowa as a better-glass-still-light-enough-to-carry option. I may sell my Swaro 65 to get exactly that scope. Loved the light weight of the ED50 but it was barely any better than binos on a tripod in the middle of the day and...
