It is meant metaphorically. Many shooters never progress (skill wise) beyond shooting from a bench or perhaps prone, both using bags or bipods. If you think you are good try a 10rd rapid fire string like the NRA Standing to sitting or standing to prone events. I am not saying this is the...
I have long thought we need a real test of riflemanship, not the various games (NRA, Benchrest, PRS etc.). My idea would be a competition consisting of unknown distance targets over a variety of terrains. Each engagement would consist of not more than 2-shots with the 2nd shot scoring exactly...
Yes speculating based on experience and having an AA from Utah Technical College in Gunsmithing (76-78) where stock design was a pretty big subject. Formerly a gunsmith at SOTIC prior to adoption of the M24 (we built our own rifles based on VN era M40's acquired from a DCM warehouse). Formerly...
If someone would make a stock like the one from the FN 30-11 I could get excited about that. It has not only the higher heel to the butt but also a straightline comb. I have shot several of these and I don't know anyone that was not impressed with the ergonomics. The butt can be adjusted for...
What it the logic of this comb design, what is it supposed to do? Why aren't the manufacturers jumping on this? What about the military teams shooting bolt guns?
The rostock reminds me of another fad from a few years back.
Sorry I'm late, I don't like it! You don't see a comb shape like this on any military sniper rifle. Recoil will bring the shooter's face/check off the stock, nothing for quick follow-up shots. Good for the recoil sensitive though.
I have had a lot of luck over the years taking things apart with just a strip of heavy leather. Wrap the leather around the part with the rough side in and clamp it in the vice to hold the part. Never marred the finish using this technique, the leather really grips any irregularities (holes...
I have some sort of an issue with quartz watches and they never work long on my wrist. For everyday I use a Meistersinger M2 but the hands are not luminous. As a hunting watch I have a Seiko 5. Not a bunch of things I don't need and the luminosity is good.
I was going to try to build a light-weight folder with a chassis stock using a Rem 700 last year. When I got the Titanium stock from XLR, added a butt stock and equipped it with the same sling/bipod attachments I had on a H-S Precision stock the rifle gained weight. A good portion of the weight...
Another of my Frankenguns. Not sure of all the parts, POF lower, Armalite upper, SPR 18.5 barrel with 5.56 NATO chamber. Gasbuster CH, Daniel Defence "stuff", Silencerco can.....
The can also works well on this bone-stock 700 in 223 with a M40 trigger and a Ruger pistol I threaded for it. The...
I have killed three Bulls and in each case was able to drive to them. Each was opened partially on the ground then pulled up a ramp pastway to use gravity's assist to finishing the gutting before getting the carcass onto the truck. Back at the shed the animals were hoisted up for skinning. A big...
In my experience with various forums, the number of posts just don't mean s++t, substance over quantity. Often, new people have ideas and experiences outside the box that the "experts" (high post counts) lack.
