This summer I was playing with different scenarios with my shot timer. Starting with everything packed as it would be hiking, with my rifle in my gun bearer, I was averaging 25-30 seconds to get tripod setup in a kneeling position, clipped into my anvil head, and a shot off. I was shooting 3"...
When you press the other button, what temp does it display? Even if I have mine out and exposed for a while glassing, it will still display 50+ degrees, even if it's in the mid twenties. My guess is that is the source of the discrepancy.
2715 mv drops to 1800fps at 650 yards at 500' DA and 800 yards at 7500' DA. Bump it to 2815 mv and it changes to 710yds and 880yds respectively. According to Applied Ballistics. So my guess is that guys are either starting faster or at higher DA's, or a combo of both.
I think they're worth it even if you dont shoot with them. Replaced my tipi pole, add an additional handle height below the grip, and make it easy to stick my poles together
Not a 223 rem, but figured I'd link my 22cm experience. Also, when I was removing one of the shoulders, I made some wrong cuts, encountering resistance, realized I was cutting through the top of the scapula, good thing my knife is a magnum or it would have bounced off.

Shot a bull elk tuesday morning. 88gr ELD-m, 2860 at the muzzle. 489 yards, broadside. Shot him twice, he managed turned himself around, I considered sending a third round, but he collapsed right as I decided he didn't need it. He made it maybe 3 yards from where he stood when I shot, and that...
Haven't used h4350 in 6.5, but I'm getting 2640 from my 20" barrel. Haven't loaded up to pressure, so I'm not sure how much more I could go for, but I'm about 1 grain shy of book max from Barnes data I think.
I've shot around 1200 140gr Barnes Match Burners with Staball 6.5. All loaded with my RCBS uniflow, I used to check weight on every 10 rounds, but I only check every 50 or so now, its always within .1gr. Shoots right around an inch in my CTR, and had an SD of 6 last time I checked with my...
They're not. If you use the 4dof side of the app with bullets in their library, the changes are much less drastic, and line up with reality. The guideline that I have heard for aerodynamic jump, and so far as lined up with my experience, is .1mil per 9mph of full value wind.
I've cleaned the barrel once, about 300 rounds in. I'm close to 600 rounds in now, and just started getting really sticky bolt lift and some bad swipe. Guess I'll clean it and assume it will return to normal.
So far in dry fire, the trigger reach hasn't bothered me, though it is noticeable. I figure I'll get some rounds through it before making my decision, but I plan to glue some rigid insulation foam and then probably secure it with athletic tape to take up that space.
What range and level of precision are you looking for? Best way is to test on paper at 100 yards. I've shot off a 634 a little bit, then a 733, each with a Jim White pan head. It's doable, but less ideal than shooting specific setups.
I killed a wolf at ~100 yards with 45gr soft points from a 22 hornet. 2 shots to the lungs, didn't perform an autopsy, but both bullets exited and he died within 100 yards.
