Still have some sanding to do, I'll paint it eventually, but want to shoot it first to see if I want to alter anything first. Put some clear epoxy over the bondo, figured that would be a little more solid, not sure if that's necessary or not.
Makes it less comfortable to carry, can snag/interfere when shooting off a pack/bag. I don't like shooting clipped in near the balance point, the pivot point leads to more muzzle rise, clipping in farther forward where the scallop is will be easier to manage recoil. Those are my reasons anyway...
I have a pair and really like them. They were my first alpha glass, and I haven't compared them to much else really. I think they're probably on the bigger side compared to similar level glass? If you're in the Boise area I'd be happy to meet up if you want to look through them.
Mine all have. The $10 shipping upgrade has been mentioned, and I think is probably worth it. But also I have had the standard shipping option show up fairly quickly too.
I'm 2 grains over hodgdons max. Last time I cleaned I was starting to get some bolt lift, it was also 100 degrees out. I'm going to play with Staball Match HD instead of 4831sc, see how that does.
Velocity is climbing still, and way more spread than I like. Not sure if it's always had this much spread and I just didn't know since I didn't have the garmin xero, or if it's due to the barrel wearing. I'm at 720ish rounds through it, been 3-400 since cleaned last. Going to scrub it out and...
They still have the match page for last years up, it has some more info. https://nrlhunter.org/matches-2023/23-16/
If you can shoot 2-3moa positional, you'll be fine. Ranges are mostly 4-700 usually, maybe a stage or two in the 850-1000 range. Target size is usually 2-4moa I think, steel...
Practice deploying your gear til you can do it blindfolded and you'll be way ahead. But also the best way to know how to get better is to just go to a match, don't worry about if you're ready or not.
I've dumped (several) 5 gallon buckets of water down quite a few badger holes and waited at the top to shoot them. Always fun when you see one and tell a buddy what the plan is.
AW. They're a 10 round double stack. Not flush mount, as you said, they weren't designed for carrying in hand hunting, they were designed to hold 10 rounds.
