Do you have any links to the failure reports? I ask because I was talking to an outfitter last season in the backcountry and he was telling me he'd seen a few frame failures on the Kuiu packs but I cant seem to find any of the reports. I'm happy with my SG but just curious is all.
PhoneSkope recently came out with their own Universal phone adapter and it’s pretty slick. I was always needing to buy a new case with every new phone, but I’ve been happy with their universal for what it’s worth.
For me personally it’s Alberta Sheep. Boulder fields, scree slides, sharp rocks and shale. The outsole on these just looks like very soft rubber (judging by the photo of the boot rolled up like a fruit roll-up). I wear a stiff Scarpa Kinesis right now and they get the crap beat of them too and...
What kind of hunting are you guys using these for? Just based solely from pictures, I feel like these would get absolutely trashed on a high alpine hunt. Not being confrontational either, I am genuinely curious because I do see the benefits of barefoot/minimalist footwear.
I started following this approach earlier this spring. Definitely tough to adhere to off the start because you need to move so slowly, but I can tell you it is working very quickly for me. I can now nose breathe and my hr stays lower where I used to be gasping for air just a few months ago. I'm...
If you’re looking at <500yards, I’d say go 7-08. Load it up with 160 weight class and kill anything on the continent. There’s a fair bit of info on here around the 7-08 with 162gr eld-m.
Which BTW is what I am using. May be a bit biased towards it, but there is a reason I went that way.
I have no experience with the Mark 5 but I seem to recall a picture from one of the drop tests that had a Mark 5 with “lost zero” taped across the bell.
Stick with the 30-06
The 300 Win in a Tikka kicks the snot out of a guy and your 06 will do 600 yards quite easily with the right load. If you’re not using the extreme end of the magnum, all you’re doing is increasing recoil, decreasing shootability and in turn decreasing your accuracy.
I've only shot the SST in a 7RM so I cant say for sure. It would probably do just fine as most cup/core bullets benefit from non-magnum velocity. The ELD-M just holds its speed a bit further out.
Sorry OP for the de-rail.
22.5" Tikka Superlite. I Waited until roughly 200 rounds down the barrel before starting load development. Verified this velocity out to 600 yards. Those 162 ELD-M's are deadly at 7-08 velocities.
162gr ELD-M
41.6gr Varget (41gr book max)
CCI 200
Lapua Brass
2.126” CBTO
I’m right at 2690 fps with a 20 shot ES 16 SD 4
This is above book max, so start safe and work up.
I respectfully disagree. The Tikka action is perfect for short action cartridges seated out long with heavy for calibre bullets. Modify the bolt stop and you’re in business.
