I’m not 100% sure, I don’t have a ton of experience necking down brass. I’m using Redding type-s full length bushing dies. If I had to guess you don’t have the die ran down far enough. Mine are set up to push the fired shoulder of my 7prc back about .003”. I ran it through a 6.5 bushing and then...
Very nice, if unknown has the 6-7prc reamer coming, that changes things for me. I’m going to abandon the 6prc idea and have them chamber me one as well.
If the federal shoots in your gun stock up. Every time the ammo crunches happen federal is pretty much unattainable.
I’d take 100 fps less on a load and be able to find it here and there even when ammo disappears.
Christensen Arms .264 26” 1-8 twist barrel blank. Threaded 5/8-24 with side baffle muzzlebrake . Ready to be built into a sweet rifle. $550 shipped. No paypal g&s, I don’t want a w2 from PayPal lol. I’ll FaceTime you or whatever you need to feel comfortable.
Yup spot on. Factory 175 ammo in my 24” barrel is 100 fps slower than listed. They are inflated numbers for marketing imo, most companies do it. My handloads right at the cusp of pressure with h1000 are at 2984fps. When I got into the gun I thought I’d easily be able to get 3075 to 3100 with...
Also I’m 300 rounds into it and I shot some baseline ammo the other day from when I first got the gun and my barrel never sped up. I follow a pretty strict cleaning protocol where I do a basic maintenance clean every 50 rounds. My hypothesis is most people’s barrels “speeding up” are from lack...
I’ve got a 7prc with a 24” benchmark carbon barrel. It shoots factory 175 eldx ammo at 2900fps. My handloads with h1000 at factory seating depth are just below max pressure in peterson brass at 2984fps average.
Just a 14” miter saw blade with fine teeth. I think any blade would work good, just make sure it’s newish, and go slow. The painters tape over where you will be cutting will keep it from chipping.
Would anyone be willing to cut loose 10-20 6mm 115 d tacs? I want to try them in my rifle for velocity and accuracy before I buy 500 of them. Thanks guys.
For anyone wondering I reached out to stockys about cutting down their stocks and they said the wrapped carbon underneath the butt pad was less structural and more so there was something to screw the pad too. I cut off 3/4” off mine, filled the butt with spray foam, filled the final 1/8th inch...
