I like Hornady’s Precision Hunter 178 ELDX for hunting. I think it’s the best all-around factory load. I’ve had good success with 150 and 165 mono-metal in the 308 Win, but I don’t think copper bullets are optimal for extended ranges. I’ve also had good experiences with Norma’s 150 soft points...
Lack of internal damage (compared to my experience with cup & core and bonded lead bullets), did not get exits when I expected them to, and the actual BC was less than expected.
I shot 4 whitetail, broadside or quartering, between 90 & 150 yards. Shot a red stag at 350 broadside … two shots in...
I used the 143 HH exclusively last year for whitetail and one stag. While they shot well from my rifle, the results were not as impressive as the forum lead me to believe.
Between those two, I’d go Accubond.

You have two, nearly perfect setups for deer & elk and everything between, however…
There is such an allure to the do-it-all rifle and the 7PRC is a great, if not the (near) perfect solution.
It’s always ok to buy or build a new rifle.

I’d go 300 PRC on a custom action… however, I got the Fierce Rogue 300 PRC with 22 inch barrel and I’m getting ~2740 with factory 212 ELDX and ~2705 with factor 225 ELDM. For $2200, you can’t come close to building it for that. The titanium is only about $400 more.

In addition to Dramamine, take your shoes off (wearing lightweight socks), wear a short sleeve shirt, shorts or light pants, loosen belt, and make sure you stay cool to cold. That helps me. Good luck.

CA is has a new team for customer service, so it seems like they are trying to correct the issues that many of us experienced.
That said….
I’d still go with the Tikka. They are consistent, have a short bolt throw, good trigger, and can take a prefit barrel when you get ready for a change...
I mean they won’t hold together BEFORE impact (spin apart)… but I’m just an internet warrior with no real experience. Waiting to see what you guys find out.
Depends. I’d be more comfortable shooting the “deer loads” from a 300 than from a 243. [emoji2371]
It is more likely than not that the bullets will be just fine if put dust behind shoulder and double-lungs a bull.
For me, if I wasn’t 100% confident, I’d try to go to a bullet I was comfortable...
“Alpine” sounds right. The APA fat bastard brake I have on it is incredible. With the stock and brake it recoils like a 6.5 Creedmoor.
That sucks about your health issues. I hope it doesn’t impact your hunting season.
What part of the country are you in?

My experience with Savage has been great, including the Ultralite.
My experience with Christensen is less than adequate.
Between the two, I would go with the Savage because I would expect it to shoot much better.
However….
I bit the bullet and got a Gunwerks 7mm PRC.
If I had it to go...
